BIOGRAPHICAL HIGHLIGHTS:

Dr. Quatela currently serves on the AAFPRS Fellowship Committee

Dr. Quatela served on The American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 2004 through 2010.

Dr. Quatela served as the Academy’s Industry Relations Committee Chair for the AAFPRS from 2008-2009.

Dr. Quatela served as the Academy’s Immediate Past President, Nominating Committee and Ethics Committee

Chair for the AAFPRS from 2008-2009.

Dr. Quatela served as President of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

(AAFPRS) for the 2007-2008 year

Vito C. Quatela, M.D., FACS specializes in Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery of the Head and Neck

including postablative reconstruction of oncological defects, congenital and traumatic deformities and facial

aesthetic concerns.

In 2004, Dr. Quatela opened “Q” The Medical Spa at the Lindsay House to provide non-surgical, medical

treatment to body and face.

Dr. Quatela is Board Certified by the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery and an active member of the

International Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons (ISHRS) and the American Hair Loss Council. With18 years

of hair restoration experience, Dr. Quatela has treated thousands of men and women for hair loss and implanted

over one million hair grafts using microscopically controlled follicular unit transplantation.

Dr. Quatela has served as Clinical Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at University of Rochester since 1999

and has participated annually as a preceptor/director for an AAFPRS Fellowship since 1996.

Dr. Quatela’s educational contributions include delivering facial plastics core curriculum and providing didactic

and intra-operative teaching to otolaryngology, dermatology, oral surgery residents and medical students at

University of Rochester and other medical schools across the U.S.

His commitment to the medical community is evidenced in his composition and teaching of basic and advanced

soft tissue principles & cadaver courses to residents, specialized fellowships, and P.A. & N.P. programs.

His mentorship to colleagues and training of medical staff encourages divisional publications and research in the

field of Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Quatela’s expertise and consultation in the field of facial plastic surgery is sought after by national advisories

and health councils; research review committees; universities; and health & science agencies both nationally and

internationally.

As an active member of AAFPRS since 1985, Dr. Quatela has served in many positions including: Board of

Directors; Executive Committee; Vice President for Education; Board of Governors; Eastern Regional Vice

President; Craniofacial Committee; and Credentials Committee.

Dr. Quatela has been actively involved with AAFPRS’ “Face to Face” National Domestic Violence Program since

it's creation in 1994. And he currently serves AAFPRS as Senior Advisor on the "Membership/Residency

Relations Committee" and on the "Fellowship Review Committee".

Media exposure includes Dr. Quatela’s guest speaker presentation on MSNBC and numerous printed publications.

He has been published in multiple medical journals and publications to include: Facial Plastic Surgery; Operative

Techniques in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery; Open Structure Rhinoplasty; Plastic and Reconstructive

Surgery of the Head and Neck; Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery; Otolaryngology – Head and Neck

Surgery; and Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America.

He serves annually as a Board Examiner for the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

certification examinations.

In 1993, Dr. Quatela transformed the Lindsay Mansion, a historical landmark on East Avenue, into a functional

medical practice and Lindsay House Surgery Center where he is currently the Medical Director.

His compassion for others, especially children, is demonstrated by the formation of HUGS (Helping Us Give

Smiles) Foundation, Inc. in 2003. HUGS supports Medical Missions for children in Ecuador, where a team of

surgeons donate their time and resources in correcting deformities such as cleft lips, cleft noses, microtia (severe

deformity of the ear), and other abnormalities.
