Although my love of horticulture remained, I deviated from the arena of plants to major in chemistry and chemical engineering. My studies in the University of California at Davis (UC Davis) lead me to conducting advanced research into inorganic bio-chemistry. That's right, inorganic bio-chemistry, sounds like an oxymoron, right? This discipline involved inserting metal atoms into carbon atom cages called Buckminsterfullerenes, or Buckyballs. What I learned during this period would make most anyone want to avoid chemicals and nanoparticles at all cost. We were managing complex particles that were small enough to go into any cell. It should be rather obvious that explains why organic beans have many advantages over coffees grown inside the more conventional way, but a majority of folks have not got word of the concept of organics.
