Visit to CRMS Trade Union Office

Central Railway Mazdoor Sangh Trade Union visit on 28th August 2013 by HR

students proved to be a learning experience; where students were given practical

insights regarding Industrial Relations and Disputes. Management lessons such as

union leadership, trade union jugaad, staffing, recruitment, etc. were well

received by the students. Mr. V.K.Sawant, Trade Union Leader and Mr. Shetty

spoke on working system, upcoming opportunities in the field of HR in Indian

Railways, maintenance of bogies in underlying car-sheds, compensation and

fringe benefits. All in all, it was an enjoyable and enriching experience for GNIMS

management HR students.

Workshop on “How to attempt university exam”

A workshop on “How to attempt university exam” for BMS students of semester V for the colleges within the area of Mumbai was conducted on 4/9/2013 by Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies at their conference hall. Over 250 students participated for the same and the same was an initiative taken by GNIMS as a part of its CSR activity. The workshop aimed to give an exposure to the BMS students on writing university exams and will had also covered points of Time management, Techniques to be stress free during examination and so on.

Achievements: -

Customer Relationship Management is an essential discipline for success in the 21st century as there is a direct ongoing relationship between customers and the company especially in those service industries where customer makes a choice in the beginning of a relationship and continues to give patronage so long as the company meets or exceeds customers changing expectations. Worldwide service firms have been the pioneers in adopting the practice of customer relationship management practices. In India Relationship management is emerging as the core marketing activity for business operating in fiercely competitive environments. Launch of book “Customer Relationship Management a theory and practice to manage and retain customers” authored by Dr Amarpreet Singh Ghura (Associate professor and Academic Coordinator at Guru Nanak Institute of management Studies)

and Ms Shraddha M Bhome, was done by the hands of Honbl Shri Hasan Mushrif –Cabinet Minister Labour and Special Assistance, Government of Maharashtra at his residence on 2nd October 2013 along with Mr. Asif kaskar,Government of Maharashtra Expert committee of construction labour andother.The book has been published by International Book House P Ltd and is the need of the hour as investing in cutting edge technologies, high end equipment’s and robust infrastructure will be of little use, unless the customers are serviced satisfactorily as business firms not only retain their current customers, but also increased their market share by satisfying customers.

Rising Stars of GNIMS at “Chakravyuh 2013”

This year the cultural festival had an interesting new twist, with their theme as “Around the world in 2 days”. During the course of Saturday morning we attended the Inauguration, with the presence of more than 67 colleges participating in the event. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Manish Paul – Anchor and Actor. The fest had a broad range of completion ranging from Cultural to Sports to Academic.

The activities kicked off to an unexpected start with the arrival of a flash mob on by their college students on women sensitization. The festivals most popular event was cricket with 67 entries from all over the cities management Institutes. Our students from PGDM won the 1st Prize and MMS were the runners up.

The cultural activities included Rangoli, Face Painting, Tattooing, Photography, etc., which also had an overwhelming participation. The ‘Candid Photography” event had 15 colleges participating, where again both the positions were won by GNIMS Students, Ankit Gupta from MMS A won the 1st prize and Ankita Bhonsle MMS B winning the 2nd prize.

In other events we were not behind as we won 1st and 2nd prize in Tattoo Making by Priyanka Kidre and Kalpesh Koli from PGDM 1st Year.

The most challenging and fun events were marketing events like AD Mad, Brand Housie, Marketing Quiz etc., where in students from MMS B 1st Year Nikita Mundhe and Tanvi Nadwekar secured the runners up position. The power packed event like Tug-of-war also had immense participation where our team GNIMS reaching semi-finals.

The most hyed event Mr. and Ms. Chakravyuh had 15 contenders where in Ankit Gupta and Ankita Bhonsle qualified for the final top 5.

The 2 day Inter-collegiate fest ended with Fashion Show and Bhangra by Lala’s students and everybody dancing on the tunes of the DJ. At the end all the hard work, participation, efforts, paid of as we won overall runners up trophy at Chakravyuh’13. This is not the end; the best is yet to come.

Team GNIMS emerged overall 2nd giving a strong fight to 67+ B Schools across Mumbai at Chakravyuh’13.
