    VSA - 600L Seriesof Residential Amplifiers

    The VSA-600L series is the most technically advanced and popular of Viewsonics residential amplifi-ers. Providing operators the highest level of reliability, Viewsonics protects both the input and outputports of the VSA-600L series for continued, reliable operation even after multiple high power surges.

    Available in one, four and eight output configurations, the VSA-600L series is a bi-directional solutionto servicing multimedia homes. A low noise, GaAs MMIC amplifies the downstream signals while theupstream band is internally diplexed as a passive return path. Utilizing surface mount technology(SMT) to eliminate hand wound air coils, Viewsonics brings high technology into the service drop andensures the highest performance, repeatability, quality and reliability.

    The VSA-600L series of amplifiers are powered by +12VDC adaptors attached directly to the DC inputor optionally with remote power inserting couplers (PIC). All power adaptors are potential sources ofingress, so the 600L series of amplifiers have a separate power chamber to prevent power-line ingressfrom interfering with the RF portion of the circuit. A long life LED indicates +12VDC and is alsomounted within the power chamber, maintaining isolation of any ingress to the RF circuit. The outputof the Viewsonics power adaptor is protected against accidental short-circuits, and will automaticallyresume operation once the short is eliminated.

    Ensuring a long life that remains esthetically pleasing, even in harsh salt air environments, the VSA-600L series utilizes only high quality materials. The housing is electroplated with three different layersof corrosion protection after which, the F-ports are 100% tested for size and environmentally sealed to30psi. The electroplated brass back cover is soldered into place. The corrosion protection includes aplated stainless steel grounding screw.

    The Viewsonics VSA 800 series power doubling broadband amplifier is designed for indoor applica-tions that require high output levels. Manufactured with hybrid ICs providing 33dB of gain in theforward path and an optional, field installed, 18dB of gain in the return path. The VSA 800 series isavailable in forward bandwidths of both 870MHz or 750MHz as well as diplexer frequency splits toaccommodate different system configurations.

    The VSA-800 Series is equipped with variable slope and gain control with optional Phillips style plug-in pads and equalizers. The amplifier uses a high efficiency switching power supply that is compatiblewith both 110 volt and 220 volt powering and the housing has been carefully designed for efficient heatdissipation.

    The Viewsonics Line Extenders are designed for high gain applications utilizing cable line power andare made with highest quality components and latest manufacturing processes for a long, reliable life.The VSA-LE is used in both indoor and outdoor applications where several amplifiers, operating athigh signal levels, are cascaded but 110/220 VAC is not available or practical for powering.

    The weatherproof housing is strand or wall mounted and incorporates a wire mesh gasket to ensureexcellent RFI protection. Network designs may require an amplifiers input not always be on the leftside, so the motherboard has been designed for 180 degree rotation, allowing the input and output to beeasily reversed and simplifying the routing of hardware connections. All test points are accessed insidethe housing for protection from corrosion and to maintain precision, including a return path injectionport for upstream testing. The amplifier can be powered from either the input or output port, has fusecontrol of through power passing, and a separate fuse of the internal, high efficiency, 45 to 90VACswitching power supply. All pads and equalizers are Phillips type plug-ins, available in different presetvalues, and match those used in the Viewsonics VSA-833 indoor amplifiers.

    Internal, dual hybrid ICs utilize power doubling technology for achieving high gain, low noise, andexcellent beat performance necessary for systems with large numbers of carriers. In addition to theplug-in pads and EQs, an optional automatic gain control circuit that uses a high frequency pilot carrier,can be installed for systems with changing levels, such as loss due to wide temperature swings. Thereturn path diplex frequencies must be specified at the time of ordering with a range of values for plug-in pads and EQs available. The amplifiers are shipped with a passive return path jumper installed. Anoptional 20dB hybrid return amplifier that is field installable is also available.

    The VSHC series is a full spectrum of headend combining/splitting units consisting of 8, dual-8 and12port devices. All components are mounted on a printed circuit board. The unique mounting methodavoids screw holes, adding to RFI integrity. Typical port-to-port isolation is 35dB, suppressing channelinterference.
