Un giovane insegue una donna in sedia a rotelle lungo il parco parigino di Buttes-Chaumont. La scena, romanticamente illuminata dai raggi che fendono la vegetazione, viene stravolta da un improvviso cambio di scena. Un pesante e grigio complesso residenziale, dove la donna entra continuando ad essere spiata dallo stesso ragazzo...

Attraverso un linguaggio cinematografico dai toni che oscillano fra il drammatico e il melodrammatico, lartista percorre i confini ambigui delle identit, dei territori e delle relazioni. In particolare quelle fra giovani e anziani o gli stereotipi creatisi attorno al concetto di uomo e maschio. Nei suoi video, paesaggio, genere e colonna sonora, vengono costantemente messi in dialogo creando delle continue tensioni. Lavoro con le convenzioni sociali o cinematografiche. Mi piace giocare con esse o distruggerne le aspettative, sostiene Just. Per me molto importante costruire e poi sovvertire certe aspettative, soprattutto in termini di strutture di potere, come sesso e razza.

A young man pursues a woman in a wheelchair through the Buttes-Chaumont park in Paris. The scene, romantically lit by rays of sunlight piercing the vegetation, is overturned by a sudden change of scenery. The woman enters an oppressive grey housing estate, where she continues to be spied on by the young man...

Through a cinematic language that hovers between drama and melodrama, the artist explores the ambiguous borders of identity, territory and relationships. Especially those between youth and old age, and the stereotypes that surround the concepts of man and maleness. In his videos, landscape, gender and soundtrack are continually brought into dialogue, creating constant tension. I work with the conventions of society and cinema. I like to play with them or destroy their expectations, states Just. For me its very important to build up and then subvert certain expectations, especially in terms of power structures like sex and race.
