News Package Practice

• Before you film your own news package, you will create one with the footage that has been provided.

• Review the Cyclocross footage• Write a script about what you imagine is

taking place at this event• Record a voice over and edit it together• Export a playable file

• Cover a story, event or incident– It must tell a story– Should include:

• An Intro• Stand-up or voice over• Sound Bytes• Natural Sound• An Outro

Personal Profile – Long Form

• Select a subject to interview– Look for interesting features that will warrant

interesting visuals– Someone who likes reading as a subject might be

slightly less interesting than someone who can sing, dance, draw, do a backflip, etc.

• Requirements– At least 2 minutes– Multiple interviews

• Either the same person on more than one occasion• Or a second person talking about the profile subject

– Include B-Roll– Include natural sound & music– Incorporate original graphics– Export final version to playable movie file

They Tell a Story

• Cover an event– Interview a variety of event attendees

• The more, the better– Gather B-Roll– Edit together a story without the aid of using a

stand-up or voice over• You should only be using sound-bytes you gather at the

event• Keep a shot log as you go that gives you an idea of what

your interviewees talked about to help build your story

• Promote an event, person or section of your school show– Set time according to your promotional needs
