Services by AI technicians

• Artificial insemination• Pregnancy control• Embryo transfer• Fertility services

– Monitoring fertility at herd level– Finding problem cows– Monitoring fertility treatments– Instructions for heat control– Evaluation of heifers before first insemination

Page 11: Viborg 11-14.9 2011

Optimization

• 2000 orders (1300-3000)

• 1350 farmers (850-2000)

• 28 a.i.techs receiving the orders (23-34)

• 158 a.i.techs on work (121-198)

• 200 km (65-450)

• 1150 text-messages to farmes

AI-services

• more than 96 % of all cows and heifers are inseminated

• most of inseminations are done by AI-technicians• 80 Ayrshire- and 15 Holstein-bulls are tested

every year (earlier 130 Ay and 50 Ho)• 36 % of inseminations are done with test bull

semen (Genvikplus 10 % and Young bulls 26 %)• large daughter groups, 150 – 250 daughters/bull

Challanges for the next years

• EU quata system will end 2015• Amount of customer will decrease• Bigger farms, new services are

needed• Distances will incerase• Areal centralization• Increasing competition• Lack of employee

Page 17: Viborg 11-14.9 2011

Strategy 2014• Production and breedingprogram together with

VikingGenetics• NAV and genomic selection development• Increasing focus on Marketing and Sales• Development of new services for bigger farms• Segmentation of customers• Service agreements with farmers• Training of employees (professional and sales)• High investments to IT program (services)
