CAMPUS CULTUREAt VGC we pride ourselves on our global
community. VGC has been home to over 50 nationalities. There is a warm family feeling as you walk into the school and are greeted by our student services staff. Our goal is to
become your home away from home. The school is designed with plenty of student
space. It has two student lounges: the Canadian lounge on the second floor and the
international lounge on the first floor. The idea is that to really learn English one has to
communicate and practice the language. And what better place to do it than in one of our
comfortable lounges. With one of the best nationality mixes in Vancouver, VGC gives
students plenty of opportunity to create friends from around the world, all communicating in
one universal language: English.
CASA DO ZEZINHO Sao Paulo creates conditions, by way of education, art and culture, so that children and young adults that live below the poverty line under extremely vulnerable conditions can overcome the barriers imposed by their living standards. This NGO helps individuals and families to become self-reliant with the ability to make mature decisions about their own lives.
INVEST Rio de Janeirois an organization that helps students living below the poverty line complete high school programs and pre-university exams. Through this program invest students can achieve higher levels of education and therefore have better opportunities in life and break the cycle of poverty.
For each Brazilian student that attends VGC, we will give a dollar a day to one of the above NGOs. Students can choose which organization the money will go to. Please note that the money raised for these organizations will be given in the form of either services or needed goods (such as textbooks). VGC does not benefit from any tax breaks as a result of these partnerships.

GLOBAL ENGLISHA PERFECT HYBRID OF GENERAL ENGLISH AND ACADEMIC SKILLS
Your day at VGC will start with a unique approach to language learning in our Global English program, a program that combines both general English and academic skills.
Global English is a proven program that has helped thousands of students reach their goals in business, exam writing, academics, or daily communication in English. As an integrated course, the Global English program works on speaking, listening, writing and reading, as well as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Whether for business, academics or everyday needs, this is the perfect class to help youimprove your English.
OBJECTIVESBy the end of your course you will:• have expanded your vocabulary in relation to everyday topics, academics, and the business world. • have improved your general English skills, such as the ability to speak or to listen in real life situations. • have had fun while learning the skills necessary to succeed in the academic world. For example, you will learn how to listen effectively to lectures, write essays, or to read academic texts. Each level is two months in duration (except level 1, which is one month long). Students are continuously assessed and have a mid-term and final exam. Students may move up a level every two weeks if their test results are high enough.
• Eight levels of Global English from Introductory to Upper Advanced allow students to transition from one level to the next with ease.
• Integrates conventional and academic English, allowing
students to become versatile. • Fosters critical thinking and develops vital study
skills for students seeking higher
education.

UNIVERSITY PREPARATION
A PROVEN PATHWAY TO ACADEMIC SUCCESS
If you want to study at a Canadian or American university or do business in English, the University Preparation program is for you. Successful
completion of our UP program will allow you to gain the necessary language requirements for acceptance to our partner colleges or
universities. It is also an excellent opportunity to refine your English for business communication. Studying at an English speaking university or
working in an English speaking environment will require you to have high level communication skills, particularly for reading and writing. Vocabulary
tends to be very advanced, and you are required to analyze information critically. The University Preparation program places a great deal of
emphasis on extensive university-style reading, writing and analysis.
OBJECTIVESBy the end of your course you will:
• have learned how to listen to lectures and take effective notes. • have read critically with a healthy level of skepticism. • have conducted quantitative research, analyzed data,
reported and discussed findings. • have come to conclusions based on observation and evidence.
• have written effective essays, arguing a case, supported by reading and empirical evidence.
• have delivered university level oral presentations.
THE VGC DIFFERENCE • Receive personal speaking and writing feedback from a highly trained teacher.
• Your teacher will have a one-on-one meeting with you to discuss your progress and discuss future university plans.
• We personalize your university preparation and ensure that your study plans will be successful.
• VGC offers 2 levels of University Preparation to help you improve your academic English from an intermediate to advanced level.

That’s why VGC offers Continuing Studies. We provide a new online lesson every week for
students who have graduated from one of our programs. This is just one of the ways in which you will always remain part of the VGC family.
