your way. I believe that Jesus is your Son and that he died for me.

SALT DOUGH RECIPE FOR SALT MAP

3 cups plain flour1 !cups table salt

3 cups boiling water

!Tablespoon alum or cream of tartar

!Tablespoon vegetable oil

Place dry ingredients in a large bowl. Stir together with a wire whisk. Add boilingwater and oil together. Be careful! It will be very hot! Cool 10 minutes and then mix

well. Knead by hand. Store salt dough in air-tight containers or zipper-style plastic

bags. NOTE: If making more than one recipe at a time, use a heavy-duty mixer with

dough hook. Enlist church members to help make the dough the week before VBS.

Senior adults enjoy cooking and helping in this way! Yield: Clay for one child

To make a template for the salt map, locate the Bible map of

Israel (http://www.biblestudy.org/maps/historic-israel-map.html).This website gives you permission to print a copy of the map.

Enlarge the map on an overhead or copy machine to fit the pizza

box. The land area is the only area that needs to be enlarged. The

land area needs to take a little more than half of the box. Trace

the template onto poster board. Provide one template for eachsmall group of children. Write the cities on the template in the

order given on page 2 of Resource Item 11. Number them so the

children will know where the flags and items depicting the story will

Hey, there! My name is Bekah and I want to talk to you about my time in India.Have you ever asked God for something, and then had to wait a long time for it? It

can be really hard.

One day, my team and I were working in an orphanage, teaching English to the

kids there. Well, in the middle of our lesson, our leader rushed into the classroom

and dragged us out. They took us to a different room, where there were six teenage

boys. The boys didnt speak English, so our translator talked to them for us. Theysaid that they had heard about a god called Jesus and they wanted to know more

about Him.

We talked to them for a long time, and they liked what we said, but they werent

ready to follow Jesus. They wanted to come talk to us again, but our translator was

too busy to help. So we started searching for another translator. We searched andsearched and prayed for God to send someone. We searched and prayed for two

whole months! Finally, we found a pastor who could translate for us.

When we called the boys to come talk to us, do you know what happened? They

came, and broughtfourteenfriends with them. And that night, all twentyof them

decided to follow Jesus!

Sometimes, when God makes us wait, its because Hes preparing something even

better for us. Pray that God would show missionaries in India that He can do way

Missions in China

Hello! My name is Grace. How many of you think that being a missionary is fun

and exciting? Well, it can be, but sometimes it is also very difficult and sad.

When I was in China, I visited a Buddhist temple. Buddhist people believe that

they have to do lots of good things to get to heaven. They believe that every time

they make a mistake, it moves them further and further away from God.

While we were at the temple, we saw some wooden posts that were covered with

red ribbons. Each of the ribbons had a prayer written on it. Buddhist people buy

these ribbons and bring them to the temple. They believe that good spirits will be

happy with these gifts and will help them.

Seeing these ribbons reminded me that my God loves me and listens to me. I dont

have to go to a temple or buy a red ribbon to make God listen He is alwayslistening! And even when I make mistakes, He forgives me and helps me do better.

But as I looked at all the ribbons, God reminded me that these people dont know

Him like I do. They are working so very hard, but its all for nothing. It broke my

heart to see so many people giving everything they have to a god who cant save

them.

Missions in South Korea

Hello, everybody! My name is Brooke. I have to tell you that sometimes being a missionary isvery, very different from what you expect.

In summer 2012, I really wanted to go to Thailand. But Go Now Missionsdecided to send me to

South Korea to work with college students. I was very disappointed. I didnt want to go to SouthKorea and I didnt want to work with college students. But I knew that God wanted me to go, so

I decided to obey Him.

When I got to South Korea, I met a girl named Mary. Mary was a refugeethis means that shehad had to run away from her home country because it wasnt safe there anymore. Mary was

from North Korea, where it is illegal to be a Christian and anyone who follows Jesus can bethrown in prison. Every night, Mary kneels and prays to Jesus for her country and her family,

who are still trapped in North Korea. It was amazing to meet someone who was able to hurt somuch and still trust Jesus.

Sometimes, God sends us places we dont want to go. But if we trust Him, He will prove that Heis worth trusting. If I had not trusted God and followed Him to South Korea, I would not havemet Mary! Pray for missionaries everywhere that they will trust that God is good and faithful

even if we cant always understand what He is doing.

Biography:Brooke is majoring in Nutrition at University of Texas at Austin. While overseas,she worked as an English teacher with college students. After college, she is planning to be a

dietitian or a counselor.

Missions in the Philippines

Hey, guys. My name is Ricky. You know, sometimes being a missionary isnt about what you

teach other people; its about what you learn.

I worked for several weeks on a farm in the Philippines. The family that owned the farm were

Christians. Local believers would meet there for church, and they used the farm to make moneyfor their ministry.

Helping out on the farm was hard work. We built wooden pens for pigs. We spent hours clearing

away trees and bushes so that crops could be planted. We burned grass, chopped down trees, and

even cut bushes up with machetes! We were all completely exhausted at the end of every day.

When we first came to help, we didnt have a lot of experience in farm work and we werent

very good at it. Our friends from the Philippines had to spend a long time teaching us. And mostof them didnt speak very good English, so teaching us was hard work for them.

They were so kind to us. They didnt make us feel dumb because we didnt know how to dostuff, they just taught us and encouraged us. We couldnt work nearly as fast as they could, but

they were still patient and helped us. I was so humbled by these Christians. I didnt need to teachthem about Jesus, I needed them to teach me!

Pray and thank God that He is patient and kind to teach and encourage us. Ask God to help

missionaries keep their eyes open to what He wants to teach them.

Biography:Ricky is studying Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas in Arlington,Texas. He went to the Philippines and helped a family of Christian farmers build and run their

farm. When he finishes college, he wants to be a high school math teacher and a football coach.

Hi there! My name is Carlee and I want to tell you a story.

I spent about four months in Bangkok, Thailand as a Go Nowmissionary. One of the places

where I worked was a foster home for children. This is an orphanage, a place where kids with no

parents can live until new families can be found for them. Many of these kids were very sick

when they came to live at the orphanage. The woman in charge of the home works very hard to

nurse the sick children back to health and to find new homes for them. So far, she has helped

thirty-one kids find new families.

Not all of the kids stay in Thailand after they get adopted. Many of them go to live in countries

far, far away from where they were born. While I was there, one of the little girls was adopted by

a family in England. She was so excited and everyone was happy for her, but she was also sad to

leave all her friends. Some of these kids are very young, even younger than you, and are sent to

live in a foreign country, where they dont know the culture or speak the language. Its exciting

for them, but its also pretty scary.

These children learn about Jesus in the foster home, but they cant be sure that the people who

adopt them will be Christians. Please pray that God will lead Christian families around the world

to adopt these kids and love them like Jesus.

Biography:Carlee graduated from West Texas A&M with a degree in Math Education. In

Thailand, she served in a childrens foster home and worked as an evangelist in some of her

citys roughest neighborhoods. Right now, shes living in New York City and working as a

nanny, as well as studying at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Someday she wants to be ateacher, hopefully overseas.
