Proposing on Valentine’s Day – Yes or No?

by JoAnn Kamm

Valentine’s Day is the number one day for marriage proposals, which explains why it is also the most stress -ful day of the year for many men. After all, what if she says “No” - that would mark the romantic holiday for life with the scar of eternal rejection,or at least it will seem so for a couple of years. But if she says “Yes”, then Cupid will pat himself on the shoul -der for a job well done, and guys all around the world will sigh with relief. And while for many men this year Valentine’s Day may be just chocolate and roses, there are some brave souls out there who are sweating the sweat of true love in preparation for the grand proposal.

So, is it a good idea to bear your heart (and lighten up your wallet) on The Day of romance? Absolutely.Taking into consideration other important factors, such as whether this is the right person, how long has the relationship lasted, and does it have a promising future, Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to pop the ques -tion. It would be a really harsh woman to turn a lover down on a day like that, and who wants to marry such a woman anyway?

Of course, there is the ring... The ring, which will hopefully be in a style

that she likes, and it will fit, and it will symbolize everything and anything that a nervous, tongue twisted guy in a vulnerable one knee position might forget to say. Where do you find that ring? Skip the overpriced malls. Your local jeweler can probably help you out better, as long as you give a little bit of an advance notice, such as a week to two week. A good jeweler becomes a man’s best friend before Valentine’s Day. An honest, knowl -edgeable jeweler can save the hus -band-to-be hundreds to thousands of dollars on the engagement ring, givehim valuable advice, and last but not least, offer some moral support. After all, Valentine’s Day may come every year, but a proposal on Valentine’s Day is done only once in a lifetime.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner again. Sweaty palms and nerv -ous hearts are just a few of the reminders that the time has come.Good luck to the brave ones propos -ing, and remember... you can do it!
