Some Significant Differences between Medieval and Renaissance Periods The medieval and renaissance periods were two significant time spans in Europe, which have provided some great stuff to the society. But, we can find some considerable differences between the medieval and the renaissance periods. The medieval era was the period from 5th to 15th centuries. So, it was a long time span of one thousand years. It was the era of decency and the people like to wear the simple <a href="http://www.tudordressing.com">medieval clothing</a>. In the art and culture also, we find the simple themes. It was the period in which the people had religious inclination. So, the religious themes are found in a number of portraits and the sculptures of that era. However, the changes could be seen in these genres in different time spans of the medieval times. The medieval era was divided into the early, high and late periods and the development in artistic instincts could be witnessed with the passage of time. On the other hand, the renaissance period was the era, when the flourish in art and culture were at the peak in the society. Therefore, it put in the influence on the clothing styles also. The people started adding the new effects to their medieval clothes. This is why the renaissance clothing would be flamboyant in nature. Still the outfits of this era were based on the community standards. The wardrobes of the high class communities such as the royals and nobles had become even showier than the medieval times. The commoners, who used to wear the simple medieval costumes in the Middle Ages, started wearing the showy outfits. But, the peasants, the labor class people of that era, still used to wear the simple costumes. They had the hard lifestyles and they had no or very less space for the fashion. Therefore, the change in clothing was either lacking or very less. Similarly, we find the change in the sculptures and paintings also in the renaissance age. The renaissance paintings and sculptures were not limited to the religious themes, and a number of secular themes also came in the limelight. Interestingly, the science/technology based portraits were also made by the painters like Leonardo da Vinci. Leonardo, a great polymath of the era, had made the paintings on the
