Business Need

A US State’s Transportation Dept.

PROBLEM Historically, crash reports were communicated manually, and were subject to communication errors, as well as data-entry errors. In addition, the data entry of the crash reports carried a significant manual processing overhead.

US TECH SOLUTIONS ROLE The architecture involved identifying and exposing web services to receive the crash information from LEA systems and defining a repository for crash reports. Additionally, based on the understanding of the optimized business processes, workflows were created to automate the approval of accident data by appropriate supervisory personnel. Historical crash report data was migrated into SharePoint and “E-Search” capabilities were configured to allow users to search the crash reports by various data elements such as driver name, VIN and accident date. All electronic data was transformed by InfoPath XML to be displayable in a web browser.

CRASH ANALYSIS REPORTING PLATFORM

APPROACH The system was designed to allow the simultaneous transmittal and reception of multiple crash reports sent to the client. As a backup, an alternate manual data entry system was also developed for those LEAs not currently able to send crash data electronically.

BENEFITS The State was able to automate the streamlined processing of crash reports for 135 internal users, yielding significant cost and quality benefits. There was a 90% reduction in the work required to process crash information. Additionally, the time to transmit crash reports from LEA’s to the client was reduced from 45 days to one day.

A global telecom company

PROBLEM A somewhat unique challenge of this implementation was that the solution had to be developed incorporating production data in such a way that the development did not affect the production data, including any requisite configuration changes.

US TECH SOLUTIONS ROLE USTS was engaged to provide expertise in the design of the architecture and implementation of the solution, leveraging our BPO knowledge.

Access Circuit Billing Fed Process Automation

APPROACH Automation of some business processes required integration with legacy systems present in their environment. The solution provided business users with a web interface, while connecting to legacy systems (STARS), which in this case, was a consumer of services.

BENEFITS British Telecom Americas successfully completed this initiative along with USTS and was able to increase revenue and reduce manpower, while simultaneously improving the productivity of the affected workers. The solution dramatically reduced the time spent on identification by data analysts and business analysts, while being flexible enough to manage a growing number of external feed systems. British Telecom Americas was able to identify and optimize their business processes, from which their “service points” were identified.

A global pharmaceutical company

PROBLEM

Incumbent processes were inefficient, and involved redundant forms processing. A major driver for this redundancy was the need to create localized versions of many forms.

US TECH SOLUTIONS ROLE To provide architectural design and implementation services; streamline business processes by delivering a portal environment possessing the flexibility to support a new business process topology.

ENTERPRISE PORTAL

APPROACH To address the business need, client launched a portal initiative to create internet portals for use by various departments. US Tech was engaged by the client based on its expertise in architecting and implementing SOA solutions and our expertise in BPO.

BENEFITS

Through US Tech’s co-sourcing partnership, client was able to service its requirements for a robust portal architecture via the implementation of a flexible Microsoft SharePoint solution, which was designed, developed and integrated with other systems in the environment.

Users of various departments were able to create, publish and categorize various documents and articles to different workspace areas via the intranet portal and achieve effective and efficient intra-departmental communications; eliminating redundant forms and inefficient document processes. Also supported localization for 10 languages in 80 countries.

A leading marketing solutions provider

It was not always possible for the client to evidence proof of entitlement due to poorly formalized document processes

PROBLEM

Historically, documents related to this processing were stored loosely on servers and CD’s with the associated metadata such as author name, creation time and description, very hard to retrieve. With these systems in place, processing was time consuming, error-prone, inefficient and costly.

DOCUMENT STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM

APPROACH

USTS expertise allowed the client to establish an electronic Proof of Enrollment (POE) Document Storage and Image Retrieval System, based on the EMC Documentum® product suite. • Automated redaction of Content (image and data) received from scanning vendor

• Files are made available for processing via document management workflows, based on their optimized business process.

• The system serves as a hub between various sources of content, including legacy sources such as their AS/400 mainframe.

BENEFITS

Significant process improvements have been observed with the introduction of the new system. The new system’s functionality and scalability provides a global solution for all AG’s domestic and international business units.
