Notes: The British government disseminated not only “official” leaflets evidently originating fromthe enemy of the addressee but others used some form of camouflage to hide its publisher.These camouflaged leaflets are commonly called “black” leaflets. Such leaflets are pretendingor suggesting to be published not by the Britisch authorities but rather by some other organi-sation or even by private persons. The reason for such “odd” actions is to avoid confron-tation with the reader in the enemy camp. The way camouflage is used varies considerably.Some of these “black” leaflets produced and disseminated by the British government andaddressed to Germans are offered below.
