Basagr;mO DF + Thistrol Tank Mix for Postemergence Application in Peas' For use in ME. NH. VT, MA, CT, RI, NY. PA. NJ, VA, MD, DE. WA. 10. and OR

Due to variability anlQr. "a cuiti· vars and in application tClchniques. neither the manufacturers nor the sellers have determined whether or not the tank mix of Basagran OF + Thistrol can be safely used on all pea crops under all conditions. It is therefore recommended that the user determine if the tank mix of Basagran OF + Thistrol can be used safely prior to broad use.

Read and follow the restrictions and I"llitatians on the Thistrol latx~. The "lOst restrictive labeling applies in tank mixes.

General Information The tank mix of Basagran OF herbicide plus ThistrolO herbicide will control certain weeds not controlled by Basagran OF alone (see Table 28 Application Rates for Tank Mix of Basagran OF + Thistrol for Peas), Because this tank mix is effective mainly through contact action. thor· oUDI. cover3ge of wc-cds is essential lor effective weed control. large crop·and·weed leaf canopies shel· ter smaller weeds and prevent ade· <lu3!p. spray coverage.

Time and Rate of Application Application rates and weed sizes for this tank mix are given in Tabfe 25. This tank mix should 1)8 applied after the 3·leaf stage (4·node stage) of peas. but not later than 3 nodes before JX'Al Dowering Apply the tank mix of Basagran OF plus Thistrol to weeds that are actively growing and before weeds rp.3cll the maxirnum size listed Application to wce(~::-; tl121 P-XC(~C(j thp. nlaxilllum size stc=!terJ rTlay result irl inadequate rontrol.

Restrictions and Umitations (partial list) Do not apply more than a total of 36 ounces of Basagran OF per acre in one season. Do not apply Basagran OF to dry or succulent peas within 30 days of harvest.

Application Rates for Pacific Northwest Peas (Dry or Succulent)

Do not apply Basagran OF to peas under stress from root rot. Do not apply Basagran OF to b1ackeyes grown in Califomia, gar, banzo beans or chIck peas, or to lupines at any stage of growth, as severe crop damage may occur. Do not add oil concentrate to Basagran OF for use on peas except as directed for use in the Pacific Nonhwest (PNW). Do not apply Basagran OF wittl oil concentrate when tempmatures exceed 8a' F. Basagran OF is effective mainly through contact action; therefore. weeds must be thoroughly covered witn spray. Large crop-and-weed leaf canopies shelter smaller weeds and prevent adequate spray COV(J(

Do not apply Basagran OF to crops injured (leaf pihytotoxiclty or plant stunting) by any prior herbic;de applications. This inj".y may be enhanced or prolonged. Do not apply Bas3gran OF during prolonged periods of drought or during unseasonably cold weather. as unsatisfactory weed control may result. Clean sprayer thoroughly before applying Basagran OF, particular1y if a herbicide w:.s used which has the potential to injure the crop to be sprayed wi!:, Basagran OF. Mixing with Insecticides A need Ill<ly arise that requires poslt.>rnergence or foliar control of certain insects in the so'Vf>an crop. It is possible to tank mix a,' Insectl' cide with Basagran OF if the proper application timing of the insecticide coincides with the application timing of Basagran OF. Insecticides that may be used are Furadan· 4F, Pounce·, Pydrin·, dimethoate, and Lorsban 4E. Do not tank mix Basagran OF with malathion or Sevin·. The tank mix addition of an insecticide to Basagran OF may increase the potential for crop injury. Consult the respectIVe labels for Directions For Use and Restrictions and Umitations of each product. The mcst restrictive labeling 2pplles in tank mixes.

6 The exact conditions under which an insecticide is tank mixed with Basagran OF may vary and these conditions may reduce good rT~Xlng quality. Before a tank mix of Basagran OF and an insecticicle is mixed, a jar test should be conducted following the directions in Jar Test for Estimating Suitability of Mixes"

Restrictions and Umitatlons (partial list) Do not apply more thar, a total of 36 c,unces of Basagran OF per acre in one season. Do not graze or cut treated soy· bean fields for forage or hay for at feast 30 days after thE: last treat" ment of Basagran OF.

Time and Rate of Application Apply to actively growing weeds before they reach the maximum size listed in the Application Rate Table for Com and Sorghum. Such applications generally correspond to the crop growth stages of '·5 leaves. Com is tolerant to this tank mix at ail stages of growth. Sorghum is tolerant to the tank mix al all growth stages up to and indudlng early boot stage. Very slight leaf· speckling may occur in com and sorghum, but plants generally outgrow !hic c:ondition within 10 days. Refer to the Conversion Table, (Table 14) below for application rates depending on formulation. Cultivation ma'i be necessary if all weeds are not controllc>d or if regrowth of weeds occurs.

RICE -- Directions For Use (Not for use in California) Apply Basagran° OF herbicide early post emergence, before weeds exceed the maximum size listed in the Application Rate Table for Rice. Earty application p-oduccs the most beneficial effect on crop yields, allows use of the lower rate (depending on weed speoes), and makes thorough spray coverage easier to obtain. Delay in application permits weeds to exceed the maximum size for a given rate and will result in Inadequate control. Basagran OF has no adverse effect on rice ...,hen used according to directions and may be used on the first and second (ratoon) crops. If grasses are a problem, use prOD3nilin tt1e tank mix. Continuous Flooding Culture: In states using continuous flooding cuiture, or when treating after the permanent floodng, treatment should be maoe only when weeds are above the surface of the water. Weeds submerged at the time of application will not be adequately controlled. For early treatment, water may be partly or completely drained to expose more weed growth to spray applications of Basagran OF, Do not raise water level for 3t least 24 hours after application as unsatisfactory control may result. Do not use ground equipment to apply to fiooded fields because splashing will wash Basagran OF off weed leaf surlaces and ineffective control may result.

Restrictions and Limitations Rice straw may be fed to livestock. Do not apply more than 36 ounces of Basagran OF per acre In one season. PEANUTS - Directions For Use Apply Basagran- OF to actively growing weeds before they reach the maximum size listed in the Application Rates Tablp. for Peanuts. Basagran OF can be applied from peanut cracking through [)egging.

Table 21 Application Rates for Peanuts

Restrictions and Limitations Do not apply Basagran OF if peanuts show injury ~eaf phytotoxicity or plant stunting) produced by any ,Jrior herbicide apphcatl(lf1S (prepl3nt incorporatoo, preemergence, cracking or postemergence), because this injury may be enhanced or prolonged. Do not apply more than a total of 36 ounces of Basagran OF per acre in one season. Peanut hay and forage may be fed to livestock.

d 8 r 31 In the Southeast, in-furrow treatmoots of insecticides and nermticides may predispose peanu1s to injury from Basagran OF. Do not graze treated peanut fields for at least 50 days aller the last Basagran OF treatment.
