U.S. 93, 200 South Intersection
Project Update No. 1 / March 2016Project Number: A018(737) / Key Number: 18737
Project BackgroundThe Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) is planning to reconstruct and widen U.S. 93 through the 200 South Road intersection in Jerome County (milepost 56.727). The project is one of several improvement projects in various stages of planning and design that were identified in the 2008 Environmental Assessment for U.S. 93 between I-84 and Idaho 25 east of Jerome. The 200 South Road intersection has been identified as a high-accident location and the project will improve safety for traffic at that location. The project is funded for construction in FY 2019.
Project Description
U.S. 93 Improvements - The project entails improvements on U.S. 93 from M.P. 56.227 to M.P. 57.231 (½ mile north and south of the 200 South intersection). Project improvements are planned so they will coordinate with other planned improvement projects in the corridor as described in the Environmental Assessment. Design elements on U.S. 93 include:
• Two lanes each direction • Left and right turn lanes at 200 South • U turns at mile and ½ mile locations • Widened shoulders • Divided median between intersections • Reconstruction of affected irrigation structures • Access control measures • Plans for future development of a bike/pedestrian
pathway
200 South Improvements - The project extends several hundred feet east and west along 200 South Road. Design elements on 200 South include:
• One through lane each direction • Left turn lanes • Widened shoulders
Public Involvement The process includes public involvement opportunities to inform and engage all corridor stakeholders and the general public. Public involvement activities include stakeholder interviews to identify concerns, property owner visits to explain the project and identify right of way issues, local government presentations to explain the project, public open houses, media coordination, and a project web page. Watch local media and the project web page at http://itd.idaho.gov/projects/D4/US93/index.html for announcements of upcoming public open house events and updated project information.
