unggah di media sosial (medsos). Persekusi adalah pemburuan sewenang-wenang terhadap seseorang atau sejumlah warga dan disakiti, dipersusah atau ditumpas. Sekelompok orang yang tidak suka dengan postingan remaja tersebut kemudian mendatangi, mengintimidasi, dan melakukan tindakan kekerasan terhadapnya. Beruntung, kejadian main hakim sendiri itu terekam kamera video yang tersebar luas di masyarakat, sehingga para pelaku dapat cepat ditangkap oleh aparat keamanan.

Hal lain yang juga menjadi sorotan dari peristiwa tersebut adalah perilaku seseorang di medsos. Kemajuan teknologi saat ini memang memudahkan setiap orang untuk dapat mengakses informasi dan mengungkapkan pendapatnya secara terbuka. ✤ IMMANUEL CHURCHThe oldest church in Medan is also known as the Old Church. Built in 1921, this church was originally named the Indische Kerk or Staatskerk and became a place of worship of Dutch Protestant Christians. In 1959, the name was changed to GPIB Immanuel Church. The towering dome-shaped tower marks the hallmark of Dutch-style architecture. The church is located on Jalan Diponegoro, right across the Medan Governor's office.

✤ AL-OSMANI MOSQUEThe Al-Osmani Mosque, which was built in 1854 by the seventh Sultan of Deli, Sultan Osman Perkasa Alam, is the oldest mosque in Medan. This mosque is also known as Labuhan Mosque, because it is located on Jalan K.L. Yos Sudarso, Medan Labuhan District. The exterior of this magnificent mosque has a domi-nant bright yellow and green color on the edge of the wall, a hallmark similar to the Deli Palace, showing the greatness of the Malay sultanate. FO

VIHARA GUNUNG TIMURDi kota Medan juga terdapat klenteng Tionghoa (Taoisme) bernama Vihara Gunung Timur yang dibangun pada tahun 1930an. Terletak di jalan Hang Tuah, konon vihara seluas setengah hektar ini merupakan yang terbesar di seantero Pulau Sumatera. Pada pintu masuk vihara terdapat hiasan patung-patung singa dan naga yang menjadi ciri khas etnis Tionghoa. Di dekat tempat bersembahyang ada sebuah bedug yang biasanya ditabuh pada saat hari raya Imlek.

PAGODA EMAS TAMAN LUMBINITak perlu jauh-jauh pergi ke Myanmar untuk melihat kemegahan Shwedagon atau Pagoda Emas. Di Taman Alam Lumbini, Berastagi, terdapat replikanya yang tak kalah kokoh dan cantik. Pagoda emas yang terletak di area wisata Taman Lumbini setinggi hampir 100 meter ini merupakan pagoda tertinggi di Indonesia. Di dalam pagoda terdapat 4 patung Budha yang terbuat dari giok yang dibawa langsung dari Myanmar.

GEREJA GRAHA MARIA ANNAI VELANGKANNIRumah ibadah yang terletak di Perumahan Taman Sakura Indah, Medan, ini dibangun pada 2001. Arsitekturnya sangat unik karena mirip dengan vihara, padahal gedung ini adalah gereja bagi umat Katolik keturunan Tamil India di Medan. Gereja unik dengan arsitektur bergaya Hindu ini terinspirasi dari arsitektur Indo-Mogul di India Selatan. Setiap ornamen dan pewarnaan pada gereja mengandung makna dari kitab suci. Gereja Velangkanni hanya ada 2 di dunia, yakni di Medan dan di India Selatan. ✤

✤ GUNUNG TIMUR TEMPLEIn Medan there is also a Chinese pagoda (Taoism) named Vihara Gunung Timur, which was built in 1930s. Located in Jalan Hang Tuah, it is said that this half-hectare monastery is the largest in the whole of Sumatra Island. At the entrance of the monastery, there are ornaments of lion and dragon statues that characterize ethnic Chinese. Near the place of wor-ship, there is a big drum that is sounded during the Lunar New Year.

✤ THE GOLDEN PAGODA LUMBINI PARKThere is no need to go all the way to Myanmar to see the splendor of Shwedagon or the Golden Pagoda. In Lumbini Natural Park, Berastagi, there is its rep-lica that is just as sturdy and beautiful. The Golden Pagoda located in Lumbini Park tourist area with a height of nearly 100 meters is presumably the high-est pagoda in Indonesia. Inside the pagoda there are four statues of Buddha made of jade that was brought directly from Myanmar.

✤ GRAHA MARIA ANNAI VELANGKANNI CHURCHThe house of worship located in Taman Sakura Indah Estate, Medan, was built in 2001. Its architecture is unique because it is similar to a monastery, although in reality, this building is actually a church for Catho-lics of Indian Tamil descent in Medan. This unique church with Hindu-style architecture is inspired by Indo-Mogul architecture in South India. Every ornament and coloring in the church contains the meaning of the scriptures. The Velangkanni Church is found only in two places in the world, namely in Medan and in South India. ✤
