Age Criteria for all UG Programs

Only candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 1, 1998 are eligible to apply for admission. Date of Birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board only will be considered as Final.

Note: Last date to receive the filled application (OMR Form/ Online) is 3rd May 2020 UPES reserves the right to conduct UPESEAT II for the absentees of UPESEAT Exam I, before the declaration of results. The Merit List would be drawn in common for UPESEAT I and UPESEAT II

Centralized Counseling through Merit Ranking

# Upto 15% seats shall be filled through JEE Main Merit category. In case of seats following vacant in this category; UPES has the right to fill these through UPES Examination. University also reserves the right to conduct further physical (paper pencil test) / online test for admission

50% Scholarship on Tuition Fee: 1. Scholarship will be offered to students securing an aggregate of 80% marks in class X & XII & 80%

marks in PCM for B.Tech (All Streams) in CBSE/ ICSE / State Examination Board passing out in 2020. Such scholarships will be limited to 10% of seats in each B.Tech Program. Scholarships will be allotted for the first academic year in Merit order to eligible candidates.

2. The Scholarship will be renewed in the Second Semester provided the student obtains SGPA of 8/10. 3. Scholarships will be awarded based on merit only. 4. Continuation of Scholarship in the subsequent years will be as per the University policy.

Candidates placed in compartment are not eligible for admission to any program of study in the University

One applicant can fill one application form for either of the admission pathway. Applicant can change the pathway only up to the last date to apply for B. Tech. Exam pathway i.e. 05th May 2020.

Applicant can “EDIT” the application form at their student portal through their user id & password at UPES website till the last date of filling of application form for the respective pathway.

1. To have earned Minimum SGPA / CGPA 8.0 in 1st Semester and subsequent semesters/ Year. 2. To have passed every semester examination at the first attempt besides regular attendance, disciplined and exemplary behaviour and compliance with all other norms, as prescribed by the University from time to time. Continuance of the financial assistance from semester to semester shall subject to the discipline, punctuality and good academic performance as laid down in the rules besides the availability of fund with the University. Such students must not be getting any kind of financial assistance/support e.g. fellowship/scholarship/fee waiver etc. from any other source.

Important Instruction for PG Students: For all MBA/ M. Tech/ M. Des./ MA programs, candidates appearing in final year qualifying

examination are also eligible to apply provided they submit the proof of their eligibility latest by October 30, 2020. Admission of students failing to submit the proof of their eligibility by October 30, 2020 even because non-declaration of results by their respective Universities will stand automatically cancelled & no refund of fee will be admissible, in such cases.

Candidates placed in compartment are not eligible for admission to any program of study in the University in Graduation.

For all M. Tech. programs, candidates with valid & qualified GATE score will be preferred and will be offered teaching and research assistantship while pursuing the program as per also University's requirements and discretion.

Admissions will be purely based on merit and candidates are strongly advised against canvassing and/or extraneous pressure on the selection process. Any candidate found guilty in above activities, his/her candidature is liable for immediate disqualification.

The University of Petroleum & Energy Studies reserves the right to cancel any advertised course due to insufficient enrollments or for any other reason beyond its control. In such an eventuality, full fee shall be refunded to the student.

Other Fee Training & Certification Fee: To give real life exposure to students & to make them industry ready professionals, short duration industrial tours/training and/or online trainings shall be organized for all students of full time programs,

The trainings may lead to certification in all programs Except for Engineering & Law PG and BA (Public Policy), B.Com / B.Sc UG and D.Pharmacy students where it will be a credited course. A charge of Rs. 22,500/- (one time) is to be paid in 5thsemester in case of UG Programs & 2nd semester in case of PG student. In case travel of industrial tour by air is necessitated, additional charges, if any, would be intimated to the students concerned for payment prior to commencement of the tour. For BBA Students they must pay this amount along with 3rd Semester fee.

Personality Development Program (PDP) Fee: To improve communication & soft skills and placement selection chances, it is mandatory for all the students (Except B. Com / B.Sc. & D Pharma) to attend the Personality Development Program organized by UPES. PDP fee of Rs.7500 /- payable shall be payable at time of registration. PDP fee for UG programs is Rs.20,000/-, out of which half is payable at the time of admission and balance half in penultimate (second last) semester.

Refundable Security: Refundable (interest free) security amount of Rs.20,000/- is also payable at the time of registration.

Levies &Taxes: In case any taxes/ levies on fee are charged by the Central/State/Local Authorities/Overseas Authorities from time to time, the same shall also be borne by the students.

Convocation Fee: Student will be charged Rs.1,500 as Convocation fee to be paid in penultimate (2nd Last) semester. Since LLM is one-year duration course, this fee is payable at the time of registration.

Academic Computing Fee: Rs.,3200/- will be charged in the per semester of the program. It is mandatory for all students to bring their Laptop as per the configuration mentioned in the admission offer letter or on the UPES website.

Medical Insurance Fee: To cover medical expenses students are covered through annual Group Medical Health Insurance Policy. An amount of Rs.500/- shall be charged from student at the time of registration. For subsequent years the amount shall be communicated to students along with semester fees.

Students of BBA Aviation Operations will additionally have to pay one-time applicable IATA course fee (approx. Rs. 40,000/-) in addition to the semester fee during Registration in July 2020.

Fee Concession 33% concession on tuition fee shall be provided only to Uttarakhand bonafide resident students on merit cum means basis to be decided by the University subject to fulfilling the following conditions:

- Students whose gross annual family income is not more than Rs.8 Lakhs, - Students who possess valid “Sthai Niwas Praman Patra” from Uttarakhand state - Should have passed class X and XII level schooling from Uttarakhand. However, this condition may be relaxed for

wards of defense personnel subject to producing of posting certificate outside the state issued by competent authority.

Hostel Facility Residential blocks have been earmarked for limited on – campus accommodation (on first come first serve basis) separately for boys and girls on triple sharing basis. Student wishing to avail hostel facility (On-campus) will need to deposit; The fee indicated below is for academic session 2020-21 only and is on triple sharing basis Fee: Rs.1,57,500/- Regular hostel for boys and girls at Bidholi and Kandoli campus. However, for girl students we also have a few additional triple sharing rooms with ad-on facilities only at the Kandoli campus as indicated below: (I). Rs.1,75,750/- for hostel room with attached washroom (only for girls) (II).Rs.1,97,750/- for hostel room with attached washroom and Air conditioning (only for girls) Interest free refundable Hostel Security Fee: Rs.10,000/- Note: - Students desirous of availing the campus hostel facility should submit the following documents along with the requisite hostel fee without fail. Reservation of Seats

For Uttarakhand bona fide resident candidates: 15% of the seats in all programs will be reserved for residents of Uttarakhand subject to production of “Sthai Niwas Praman Patra” (Permanent Residence Certificate) issued by the competent authority of Uttarakhand State. These seats will get allotted based on the merit order in this category, provided the candidate has declared his intent to opt under this category at the time of applying for admission.

Note: Candidates applying under this category would be required to produce the original “Sthai Niwas Praman Patra” during the day of admission failing which their candidature shall stand cancelled.

Seats remaining unfilled by the stipulated date in this category may be treated as unreserved.

Withdrawal of Seats

UPES follow’s UGC guidelines regarding refund of fees on withdrawal. The refund will be processed online. For more details on refund policy, please visit www.upes.ac.in

Transportation Students residing at Dehradun city and wishing to avail transportation facility to the UPES campus can avail the same by paying a fee of Rs. 20,000 for academic year 2020-21.

Note: There will be No refund of transport fee in case of withdrawal.

Medical Facilities University provides basic healthcare facilities. Doctors on roll provide basic first aid in case of medical

emergencies and subsequently student is assisted in evacuating him/her to nearest hospital.

The medical treatment cost is to be borne by student or his/her parent. The onus of insuring the student under medical insurance is on the student and he/she is expected to keep insurance card handy.

Placement UPES shall provide placement assistance to all enrolled students subject to their fulfilling eligibility

conditions as prescribed in UPES Placement Regulations. However, the obligation of the University will be only to provide Placement assistance and not Placement guarantee.

Ragging The University has zero tolerance policy on ragging and will strictly enforce it. Ragging in any form inside

or outside the campus and hostel premises is strictly prohibited under UGC Regulations on ragging, Ragging being a cognizable offence; the punishment for ragging will be summary expulsion from the University.

Ragging as defined by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India: “Any disorderly conduct whether by words spoken or written, or by an act with the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness any other student; indulging in rowdy or undisciplined activities which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship or psychological or to raise fear or apprehension thereof, in a fresher or a junior student, or asking the students to do any act or perform something which such student will not do in the ordinary course and which has the effect of causing or generating sense of shame or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the physique or psyche of a fresher or a junior student.”

Commencement of Program Commencement of actual classes begins from the date of commencement of PEP (Personality

Enhancement Program) held immediately after registration.

Admission Process for International Students An applicant holding a passport of any country other than India is defined as an International student.

However, student holding Indian passport but having qualified higher Secondary examination/UG degree or equivalent from foreign country would have the option to apply as international student.

Eligibility Criteria for International Students

Students must fulfil minimum eligibility requirements as laid down for their chosen program at UPES. UPES must be satisfied that candidates applying for admission to undergraduate programs must have

obtained higher secondary school certificate (with minimum percentage of marks as prescribed) and taken requisite courses necessary to meet the eligibility criteria for the program of admission.

For admission to postgraduate program at UPES, the equivalence for the undergraduate degree earned by the candidate in his/her country shall be obtained from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). In certain cases, students may be requested to obtain the necessary certification from (AIU).

It is recommended that students have the following:

College of Management and Economics Studies: MBA programs: GMAT score of 600.

College of Engineering Studies: Undergraduate programs: SAT score of 1500/ Postgraduate programs: GRE Score of 1700 (cumulative).

Students from non -English speaking countries should satisfy UPES that they have adequate proficiency in English to be able to undertake the program of their choice. If required, an undertaking from such students shall be taken to undergo the English language training for a specific period (depending on the proficiency to be assessed by UPES on arrival) before starting the actual program of admission. Qualifying TOEFL/IELTS or equivalent may not be mandatory but strongly advised.

Students must possess a valid passport for the duration of study.

Admission Procedure for International Students Student can apply on line in the prescribed format available at www.upes.ac.in.

An application fee of USD75 is payable applicable for international students. This can be paid online or by credit card. If you experience any difficulties, please request a manual application form from email [email protected]

UPES will review the student’s application and required supporting documents. If found eligible, UPES will issue a Provisional Offer of Admission Letter.

Note: UPES may also request an interview. If the applicant is outside India, this may be by phone or on line, the cost of which will be borne by the applicant.

Important note: At the time of final registration, all successful international applicants will be required to submit attested copies of the following documents:

Computing Device

It is mandatory for each incoming student to be equipped with a laptop conforming to the minimum specifications of UPES details available on the UPES website www.upes.ac.in

VISAS AND REGISTRATION

Visas

International students who wish to study in India must obtain a Student Visa before travelling to India.

Please make enquiries at the Indian Consulate/Embassy /High Commission in your country /country of application to ascertain the correct procedure and time necessary to obtain a visa valid for the term of study of your program at UPES.

Registration

All international students are required by law to register with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) / local police authorities as per regulation of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. At present, this must be within 14 days of arrival in India but please check this information with the Consulate/Embassy/High Commission in your company before departure as these rules are subject to change.

Students must comply with visa rules and registration requirements and keep abreast of any changes. Accordingly, students are responsible for ensuring that their visas are valid throughout the period of study at UPES and for maintaining their registration with the FRRO/local police.

To improve communication and soft skills, all students must attend the Personality Development Program organized by UPES. • Academic Computing Fees –Academic Computing fee includes maintenance of hardware, providing

licensed software’s and internet bandwidth for the entire duration of the program. However, it is mandatory for each incoming student to be equipped with a laptop conforming to the minimum specifications of UPES, which will be detailed at the time of admission and is available on the website www.upes.ac.in.

• Refundable (interest free) Security Deposit: After the successful completion of the registered program, the amount of USD300 shall be refunded to the students if nothing is outstanding against him.

Limited Campus accommodation is available on a first come first serve basis with separate hostels for boys and girls. Hostel accommodation is full board and includes meals. All accommodation is on a triple sharing basis. Fee quoted are for academic year 2020-21 Boys’ Hostel: - Room on Triple sharing basis with common wash rooms USD 2250 Girls’ Hostel: -Three categories of rooms are available in the girl’s hostel at the Kandoli campus, (home to the College of Management and Economics Studies) as follows: Room on triple sharing basis with common wash rooms USD2250 Room on triple sharing basis with attached wash rooms USD2510 Room on triple sharing basis with attached wash- rooms & air-conditioning USD2825 A refundable security deposit of USD 150 is payable on reservation of hostel accommodation. NOTE: Students who have confirmed on camps hostel accommodation must provide a copy of a current medical certificate at the time of payment of fees. The original should be produced at the time of registration on Campus. A student registered in the on-campus accommodation who withdraws at any time during the academic year will not be entitled to the hostel fee refund. If his vacant accommodation is allocated to another student proportionate refund may be considered.
