    On 20 May 2020 the European Commission requested EFSA to:

    Terms of reference

    ▪ In accordance with Article 29 of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002, the Commission

    requests EFSA to update and consolidate the Guidance for the Submission of a

    Dossier on Food Enzymes under Regulation (EC) No 1331/2008, taking into

    account the experience gained with the risk assessment of enzymes and the

    numerous other relevant scientific and technical documents that have been

    published by EFSA since the adoption of the current guidance related to food

    enzymes.

    ▪ EFSA to carry out this updating within 18 months from the receipt of this letter.

  • Food Enzymes are used to produce foods-as-consumed or ingredients –playing a pivotal role in the assessment of several regulated products
