Green n Growing Cub News:

The Green n Growing 4-H club does not meet up in July or August but we made a big showing at the county fair and took lots of photos. Everyone worked very hard at the Dairy Bar, Kitchen, Information booth, Activity booth, project areas, and more to make it a great fair impact for Green N Growing! We also look forward to our new, incoming club officers: Emma Vorpagel, President, Allie Farris, Vice President, Ava Ziegler, Secretary, and Cory Schumacher, Treasurer.

In June, the Washington 4-H Club held their dairy promotion meeting. Our beef and dairy project members talked about their projects, and we had an ice cream social. We also did a fun milk tasting contest. It was a blind test of skim milk, whole milk, 1%, 2%, soy, and almond milks. Then the kids voted for their favorite - 2% won. At our June meeting we also did our fair preparation, where our older youth did a demo on judging so new members knew what to expect. Our club filled multiple shifts in the 4-H food stand, performed our curtain call skit at county fair, did many demos and performances on the action stage, and participated in many competitions. Our curtain call performers also performed at State Fair in August, which is always a great experience. Our First Lego League robotics team had its first introductory meeting at the end of August, and is looking forward to another great season ahead. They expect to compete in November in the regional FLL tournament.

The 4-H Leaders Wall of Fame was displayed once again at the Waukesha County 4-H Fair in the 4-H Forum. This past year, three more lead-ers were recognized with their photos being add-ed to the Wall of Fame for volunteering 40 years in our Waukesha 4-H program! Another five names were added for serving 25 years! The Wall of Fame will be displayed at the 4-H Gala on March 8th, at the Leaders recognition banquet in April, and at the Waukesha County 4-H each year. When you see your Leaders, be sure to thank them for all they do for our Waukesha County 4-H program!

The summer has been busy for the Prairie Pioneers! We had many of our members participate in showing projects and animals at the Waukesha County Fair. The Club had one project that was selected to go to the Wiscon-sin State Fair and won a Merit Award – Congratulations Andrea! The Club also filled a shift at the Dairy Bar and the Kitchen for the 4-H Chill & Grill. We had a great time working together and seeing all the fairgoers! Once again, we were at the Wis-consin State Fair with the amaz-ing staff from the Pork Associa-tion in the Pork Schoppe! At our August meeting, we elected our officers for the upcoming 2018-2019 year and had our summer

picnic. We will be attending open houses at Prairie View Elemen-tary and Section Elementary and are looking forward to meeting new friends! Our September meeting will take place on Thursday Sept 20 at 6:00 pm at the North Prairie Vil-lage Hall – just after we partici-pate in the North Prairie Harvest Fest Parade on Sunday Sept 16 at Noon – come out and see us!

ANNUAL REQUIRED INFORMATIONAL MEETING

There will be the annual required informational meeting in January, 2019. Date is tentatively set for Wednesday, January 2nd. Meeting will cover information of all aspects and areas of the Shooting Sports Program. Once everything is confirmed, information will be sent out from the 4-H office.

RIFLE / PISTOL Congratulations to this year’s Champion in .22 rifle, Halle Johnson, 3rd year, 3 positions, who shot a 245 out of 300. Also, this year’s Champion in .22 Pistol, August Pfaff, who shot a 250 out of 300.

Practices will be beginning on Monday, October 29th, for rifle, air rifle, pistol & air pistol. Practices will be held every Monday night, and will run through March, at the indoor range at Hillcrest Park (the old Nike Site), 2119 Davidson Road, Waukesha. Starting time is 7:00 PM. Depending on the numbers that show up each night, practice sessions may have to be alternated each week OR TURNS TAKEN TO SHOOT due to only 8 shooting lanes available.

ARCHERY Congratulations to this year’s Champions, for Juniors – Trevyn Nicoll for Compound with aids. For Intermediates – Gabriella Tessman for Compound with aids. For Seniors – Alex Stevens for Compound with aids. Next year’s Archery season will begin in January, 2019. More in-formation will be in the next Clover Flyer.

SHOTGUN/TRAP SHOOTING The fair shoot was held on Tuesday, July 3rd, and three members shot. I would like to thank Greg Buddenhagen my other Certified Instructor who helped out during the sea-son. Look for the Shotgun/Trapshooting to start up again in late April or May of 2019. FINAL NOTE: All of the practices for “any” of the areas of the Shooting Sports Program are set up as “County Level Practices”. Members can come to as many or as few of the practices they want to. There are NO REQUIRED numbers of practices members need to attend. Just remember, the more practices that are attended gives each member more practice time and the possibility of higher scores at the fair shoots.
