The College of Education at the University of Central Arkansas, Arkansas’ premier educator preparation college, is dedicated to providing exemplary programs for the preparation of professional educators, including teacher preparation, educational leadership, school counseling, library media, instructional technologies, higher education student personnel administration, and other related professional fields.

With an emphasis on teaching, research, and service, the members of the College of Education, along with their counterparts in supporting programs across campus, demonstrate a commitment to the improvement of educational programs and services by collaboratively working with organizations that have teaching and human development as their mission. Partnership for Transition to Teaching (P3T) Grant provides financial support for MAT candidates who are recent college graduates, career changers, paraprofessionals, and science, technology, engineering or mathematics majors.

The College Student Personnel Services and Administration program provides professional preparation for students seeking student services positions in both two-year and four-year post secondary institutions. The program is interdisciplinary to prepare student services administrators for diverse areas of responsibility, including campus climate and diversity, finance, budgeting, grant writing, assessment, leadership/ team-building, and legal/ethical issues.

By its design, the program offers a broad view of the field of instructional technology (e.g. history, theory, technology, management) yet is flexible enough to allow candidates to select an area of concentra-tion reflective of their vocational interest.

Systems major, I received a well-rounded education, acquiring

many technical computer skills, as well as important knowledge to assist me in the

It offers a broad range of opportunities for candidates to learn about the foundational knowledge of literacy, historical and current seminal reading research, language arts instruction, reading curriculum development, literacy coaching, reading assessment, strategies for working with struggling and diverse readers, methods for integrating technology into reading instruction, and other critical issues in reading and literacy education.

The Master of Science degree in School Leadership, Management, and Administration (SLMA) reflects the College of Education’s historic mission and commitment to preparing leaders for P-12 schools. The Department of Leadership Studies offers a performance-based degree program for building and curriculum/program administrators. Programs of study are available for people holding the appropriate master’s degrees. The program utilizes a variety of 21st century technologies, authentic assessments, and personalized internships. The program uses a hybrid delivery system of online and face-to-face class meetings. Candidates enjoy direct and individualized contact with their professors in small class settings.
