UNIVERSAL PRAYER/GENERAL INTERCESSIONS FOR THE SEASON OF LENT For the Church during this Season of Lent: renew the hearts of we who are sinners with Christ’s mercy and reconciling love. We pray to the Lord. For your holy Church: may we contemplate the mercy of God and become signs of mercy, especially to those who live on the fringes of society. We pray to the Lord. For each of us gathered here today: make us instruments of mercy and reconciliation in our homes, workplaces, and communities. We pray to the Lord. For open hearts: that we may be moved by God’s Word, confess our sins, and receive God’s healing grace and mercy this Lenten season. We pray to the Lord. For grace and courage: that we might turn to Christ, confess our sins with humble hearts, and come to know his mercy and love. We pray to the Lord. For a willingness to receive the gift of Christ’s reconciling love and mercy through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We pray to the Lord. Third Sunday of Lent (Cycle A) That like the woman at the well, we might drink deeply of the waters of Christ’s mercy and show that same mercy to others. We pray to the Lord. Third Sunday of Lent (Cycle C) That during this Lenten season, we might know the mercy of God in our lives and become signs of mercy to our families, coworkers, fellow students, and all whom we meet. We pray to the Lord. Fourth Sunday of Lent (Cycle A) That each of us might be healed from the darkness of sin in our lives and know the true freedom of God’s love and mercy. We pray to the Lord.

Fourth Sunday of Lent (Cycle C) For the courage to seek forgiveness of our sin and the willingness to be merciful as the Father is merciful. We pray to the Lord. Fifth Sunday of Lent (Cycle A) That we might be freed from all that binds us and find new life through Christ our saving Lord. We pray to the Lord. Fifth Sunday of Lent (Cycle C) For hearts filled with mercy and compassion that we do not cast the first stone of judgment and condemnation; and for the willingness to know the reconciling mercy of Christ. We pray to the Lord.
