Storyboards
Used as a way of planning what you are going to make before you actually have to make it.
Storyboards can allow you to see how a storyline will flow through a comic strip.
They can also let you place characters and dialogue in the panels so you don’t hide any deatails.

Terminology
Panel – These are the boxes that frame the action for each scene in your comic book.
Spread - Sometimes panels may overlap or even span across two or more pages as a spread.
Splash – Often the opening scene of a comic will take up a full page or half a page as a splash.

Terminology
Speech Bubble – Used to show dialogue between characters in the comic strip. Different styles used depending on the way in which the dialogue would be delivered.
Caption – Narrative for the comic strip that doesn’t belong to the dialogue but is needed to explain the storyline.

Terminology
Symbolia – Elements such as a light bulbs being used to indicate an idea, dotted lines for evil looks, dust clouds hanging behind an object, star bursts to indicate dizziness.
Motion Lines – Used to indicate something has moved. Lines can be straight or curved and will indicate the direction of travel.

Terminology
Sound Effects – One of the most common standards of comic book design with sounds of the comic strip written in uppercase, often 3d style text. Sometimes they may be drawn with a jagged edge or cloud effect around to indicate the nature of the sound.
