End Human Trafficking
Human trafficking has been likened to modern-day slavery that subjects children, women, and men to force, fraud, or
coercion for the purpose of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor. To combat child trafficking, UNICEF strives
to reduce factors that place children and families at risk in the first place. Here are some ways you can get involved:
Check out our sample week of events for National Human Trafficking Awareness Month! Please note that
you can carry out these activities through a weeklong campaign, or choose an activity you would like to carry out
on its own as a separate event.
Learn more by checking out the End Trafficking one pager, the toolkit, and TeachUNICEF’s lesson plans.
Post the National Human Trafficking Hotline (1-888-3737-888) around your school and community.
Find out how many slaves work for you at Slavery Footprint. Share this site with as many people as you can,
and spread it across many social media platforms.
Host a movie screening of Not My Life at your school. Facilitate a discussion on human trafficking afterwards.
Organize a fundraiser to help UNICEF end child trafficking. Check out the events guide for a sample week of
events you can do at your school to End Trafficking.
Write a newspaper article about human trafficking for your local or school newspaper or community blog.
Reporting and Reflection Survey—Deadline Extension
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to fill out the mid-year Reporting and Reflection Survey! Clubs who have
not completed the mid-year survey must designate one club member to do so by January 15th
, 2015.
Presidential Petition
Tell President Obama to maintain the U.S. Government’s annual contribution to UNICEF in 2016. The funding is critical
to UNICEF’s work on child survival, maternal health, vaccines, universal education, and much more. Please share this
link with your club members and spread it across many social media platforms.
Water for the World Act Success
The Water for the World Act was recently passed through the House and
Senate and now just needs to be signed the president! Many thanks to all
volunteers who petitioned for this act last year!
