Rural Aid is giving city kids and their families the opportunity to stay on farms and rural properties all throughout Queensland and New South Wales. This major tourism initiative is run in conjunction with Outback Queensland Tourism, the Queensland State Government and Tourism NSW to invite people out west in the School Holidays periods during the middle of each year.
The initiative is designed to bring city and country closer together and educate both parties about life on the land and how city people view agriculture.
Farmers offer up their properties for free or a quid pro quo arrangement to each family. Meals and accommodation are the responsibility of the travelling family unless they have organised with their hosts an alternative arrangement.
Activities the families could be involved in while on their stay could include fencing, mustering, tractor work, quad bike riding and any other farm activity relevant to the adult or child’s age. This is a great opportunity to improve outback tourism but also create lifelong friendships and help bring down the perceived issues regarding a City/Country divide.
If you’re looking for a great family holiday, come and experience the Outback “Under the Stars”
