At the end of the 19th century, sailors brought the Cavaquinho (a small Portuguese form of a classical guitar) to Haiwaii. There, the musical instrument not only received its name „ukulele“, but also the distinctive look. It is usually made of wood and differs in size, tuning
and number of strings from a guitar. The most popular sizes of the ukuleles are e.g. soprano and concert ukuleles.

Choose the right ukulele!Whether soprano, concert or tenor ukulele - every ukulele is fun! Certainly playing the soprano ukulele is a bit more difficult due to the tight frets. But as a solo instrument it conveys the traditional Hawaiian feeling best. The concert size leaves a little more room for the fingerings and is a little louder than the soprano size. A nice compromise of the common sizes. Tenor ukuleles have a more voluminous sound and are somewhat easier to learn due to the longer scale length. Complicated fingering patterns with large intervals are difficult to realize on this size.
SopranoThe soprano model is the most common size. The scale length is about 35 cm with the tuning g-c-e-a. Its characteristic sound is inevitably reminiscent of white sandy beaches and the traditional Hawaiian Lei floral wreaths.
TenorThe tenor size already has a scale length of 43 cm and is also tuned in g-c-e-a. This size with its extended bass range makes sense especially as a supplement in a ukulele duo or trio. The playability is a bit easier thanks to the longer scale.
ConcertConcert ukuleles are also tuned to g-c-e-a and are made with a scale length of about 38.5 cm. They represent a nice compromise between the typical soprano acule with its traditional high sound and the somewhat easier to play tenor size.

Bass UkuleleBass ukuleles are played in the E-A-D-G tuning (the typical electric bass tuning). The high-quality black Open Geared mechanics provide a high tuning stability and work very precisely. If necessary, the ukulele can be retuned with the help of the integrated tuner. With the integrated neck tension rod the string position can be adjusted perfectly. The CASCHA bass ukulele can be played unplugged for practice. If it is connected to an amplifier via the integrated piezo pickup system, the amazingly full bass potential of the ukulele unfolds.
