Why Flip?
1) Defenses often don’t adjust properly.
2) Causes a level of confusion.
3) Gives your opposition something else to prepare for.
4) Great playoff adjustment or when facing teams multiple times.
5) Cheap time investment.
Our UBSW Base Formation
Note: Our Cadence = Shift, Down, Ready, Set, GO

Plays we run from Flip
1) Flip 16 Power
2) Flip 18 Sweep
3) Flip 43 Reverse
4) Flip 43 Reverse Pass
5) Flip No Play
Note: We don’t bother with changing the hole numbers when we call the play.
How to call the play – Method #1
1) Offense lines up in the base formation.2) Coach calls “Flip” and the play code.3) Players flip and then look at Wrist Coach for
play.
Assuming middle number live:
Flip RED 213 = Flip 16 Power Flip BLUE 231 = Flip 43 Reverse Flip GREEN 214 = Flip 18 Sweep
# BLUE # GREEN # RED0 43 Reverse Pass 0 Rocket 11 Trap 0 18 Sweep Pass

How to call the play – Method #2
1) Offense lines up in the base formation.2) Coach calls the play code.3) Players look at Wrist Coach for play.4) On “Shift”, players flip.
Assuming middle number live:
Flip RED 798 = Flip 43 Reverse Flip BLUE 789 = Flip 18 Sweep Flip GREEN 124 = Flip 16 Power

Play Call Method #1 vs. Method #2
▪Method #1 – No need to add additional plays to wrist coach.
▪Method #2– Faster and causes confusion when shifting.
Flipped Formation #1
▪ Right G and Left G exchange positions
▪ T and P move to the left
▪ Left E and Right E exchange positions
▪ #1 and #2 exchange positions
▪ #3 moves to the left between G and T
▪ #4 moves to the wing position on the left
CGTP EGE
Flipped Formation #2
▪ Right G and Left G exchange positions
▪ T and P move to the left
▪ Left E and Right E exchange positions
▪ #1 moves directly behind C.
▪ #2 lines up 12 yards outside the E 1 yard off the LOS in a Receiver Stance.
▪ #3 moves to the left between G and T
▪ #4 moves to the wing position on the left
CGTP EGE
Formation #1 vs. Formation #2
▪ Flipped Formation #1– Extra blocker (#2 Back) with Flip 43 Reverse– Better formation to run Flip 43 Reverse Pass
▪ Flipped Formation #2– Hits faster
Flip Organization – Method #1
1) #3 takes a step back allowing the lineman to pass in front of him.
2) The LG and LE take a step back.
3) The RG, T, P and RE go in front in order moving to their position’s on the left.
4) The LG and LE move to their position’s on the right.
5) #3 moves into his position on the left.
6) #4 loops behind the #1 and #2 to the left Wing position.

Flip Organization – Method #2
1) #3 takes a step back allowing the lineman to pass in front of him.
2) The RG, T, P and RE take a step back.
3) The LG and LE go in front in order moving into their position’s on the right.
4) The RG, T, P and RE in order move to their position’s on the left .
5) #3 moves into his position on the left.
6) #4 loops behind the #1 and #2 to the left Wing.
7) #1 and #2 switch positions.
Flip Organization Method #1 vs. Method #2
▪ The only difference is which lineman go first.– Method #1▪ Strong Side
– Method #2▪ Weak/Quick Side
Putting it all together – Example #1
Flipped formation #11) Method #1 for the play call• No reason you couldn’t use #2 if you like.
2) Method #1 for flip organization• No reason you couldn’t use #2 if you like.
3) #1 verifies everyone is their ready position and begins his normal cadence.
Putting it all together – Example #2
Flipped formation #21) Method #2 for the play call.• You could use #1, but I believe you lose an element of surprise. See
below.
2) #1 verifies everyone is their ready position and shouts “Shift”.
3) Method #2 for flip organization• No reason you couldn’t use #1 if you like.
4) After moving into their new position everyone immediately gets in their stance.
5) #1 verifies everyone is set and shouts “GO”
