Why Flip?

1) Defenses often don’t adjust properly.

2) Causes a level of confusion.

3) Gives your opposition something else to prepare for.

4) Great playoff adjustment or when facing teams multiple times.

5) Cheap time investment.

Note: We don’t bother with changing the hole numbers when we call the play.

How to call the play – Method #1

1) Offense lines up in the base formation.2) Coach calls “Flip” and the play code.3) Players flip and then look at Wrist Coach for

play.

Assuming middle number live:

How to call the play – Method #2

1) Offense lines up in the base formation.2) Coach calls the play code.3) Players look at Wrist Coach for play.4) On “Shift”, players flip.

Play Call Method #1 vs. Method #2

▪Method #1 – No need to add additional plays to wrist coach.

▪Method #2– Faster and causes confusion when shifting.

Flipped Formation #1

▪ Right G and Left G exchange positions

▪ T and P move to the left

▪ Left E and Right E exchange positions

▪ #1 and #2 exchange positions

▪ #3 moves to the left between G and T

▪ #4 moves to the wing position on the left

CGTP EGE

Flipped Formation #2

▪ Right G and Left G exchange positions

▪ T and P move to the left

▪ Left E and Right E exchange positions

▪ #1 moves directly behind C.

▪ #2 lines up 12 yards outside the E 1 yard off the LOS in a Receiver Stance.

▪ #3 moves to the left between G and T

▪ #4 moves to the wing position on the left

Formation #1 vs. Formation #2

▪ Flipped Formation #1– Extra blocker (#2 Back) with Flip 43 Reverse– Better formation to run Flip 43 Reverse Pass

▪ Flipped Formation #2– Hits faster

Flip Organization – Method #1

1) #3 takes a step back allowing the lineman to pass in front of him.

2) The LG and LE take a step back.

3) The RG, T, P and RE go in front in order moving to their position’s on the left.

4) The LG and LE move to their position’s on the right.

5) #3 moves into his position on the left.

6) #4 loops behind the #1 and #2 to the left Wing position.

7) #1 and #2 switch positions.

Flip Organization – Method #2

1) #3 takes a step back allowing the lineman to pass in front of him.

2) The RG, T, P and RE take a step back.

3) The LG and LE go in front in order moving into their position’s on the right.

4) The RG, T, P and RE in order move to their position’s on the left .

5) #3 moves into his position on the left.

6) #4 loops behind the #1 and #2 to the left Wing.

7) #1 and #2 switch positions.

Flipped formation #11) Method #1 for the play call• No reason you couldn’t use #2 if you like.

2) Method #1 for flip organization• No reason you couldn’t use #2 if you like.

3) #1 verifies everyone is their ready position and begins his normal cadence.

Flipped formation #21) Method #2 for the play call.• You could use #1, but I believe you lose an element of surprise. See

below.

2) #1 verifies everyone is their ready position and shouts “Shift”.

3) Method #2 for flip organization• No reason you couldn’t use #1 if you like.

4) After moving into their new position everyone immediately gets in their stance.

5) #1 verifies everyone is set and shouts “GO”
