Technology and education is growing more advanced everyday. One of the most popular social network sites out right now is Twitter. Twitter goes beyond keeping in touch with friends and family. Twitter keeps you connected and updated to the world and everything else around us.

Twitter is an online social network site/blog, designed for users to post “What are you doing”

Everybody is using it, from celebrities to politics

After creating an account, personalize your page, then start twitting away

Twitter is a room full of conversations, just jump in one.

The only downside is it enables face to face interaction.

This article was one of my favorites. It was simple and straight to the point. It a lot of valuable ideas and main points that hit home. One in particular was the downside of Twitter, “it enables insane interactions”. Another home hitter was a reason to use Twitter in the classroom. “Twitter can be a viable platform for metacognition, forcing users to be brief and to the point-an important skill in thinking clearly and communicating effectively.”

When I first started using Twitter I found it very boring and useless. Once I got the hang of it and started twitting more, I kind of enjoyed. At first I only used to communicate with friends. Then I started to follow news stations and other very interesting twits.

Ask for recommended books, lesson ideas, or teaching tools

Ask for help or advice about a professional question

Tweet about a useful web resource, a particular blog post, video, website, book, product or service that teachers would find useful.

Link to photos of your classroom

I think this article was very useful and insightful. It had some great ideas and reasons, why and how to teach with twitter. One of my favorite reasons is “Twitter can be a valuable tool for professional development”. I agree one hundred percent with this.

Twitter is not the only social site that is valuable in the classroom. There are many others that are just has useful, take Skype as an example. With Skype you are able to have a video conference with your teacher.

There are many more that does more then just give you the chance to chat.

I think Twitter is an great opportunity in the classroom. Its fun and very reliable. As technology continues to grow so well the use of it in the classroom. Its growing fast and we have to learn to keep up.
