If tweet starts with @, then it is "private"
140 character maximum
If tweet starts with anything besides @, then it's public
If replying to one person/question, private is okay!
If #hashtags are included, use no more than 3 per tweet
You NO LONGER have to leave free characters for RTs

If you choose "Quote" then you can add your additional 140
character comentarty
A ReTweet (RT) is when you share somone else's tweet on your profile
If you choose "Quote" then your RT will not show in Tweet
engagement counter (probably a bug that will be fixed)
Great for encouragement and supporting other Twitter users
Don't retweet every single thing you get mentioned in. That's lame.
(Favorites are okay for that)
Tweet things that other people will WANT to RT. (Don't ask in a
Tweet.. that's lame too.)

Favorites are displayed on your profile in their own tab (this is new
in 2015)
Favorite a tweet by clicking the small star icon below the tweet
(start will turn yellow)
Favoriting someone else's tweet will give them a notification
It will also give notification to anyone else @mentioned in Tweet
You can use favorites often. It's a great way to acknowledge a
compliment or tweet.
Don't favorite your own tweets. That's lame.

Add to List
Public lists give notification to the users you add to it
(for engagement stacking)
Lists can be public or private, and used to filter tweet feeds from
members of that list
Private lists do NOT give notification, but you can change a list from private to public to send
notification to all users on list
You can subscribe to lists of other Twitter users
You can browse members of any other (public) lists
You can create 1,000 lists, and each list can have up to 5,000
users

Direct Message (DM)
By default, even people who you do not follow you can send
you a DM (this is new, and can be turned off in settings)
Direct messages can be sent to other Twitter users, and show in
their "messages" area
People often overlook DMs because they are spammed with automation welcome messages
Do NOT use an Auto-DM
DMs are limited to 140 characters each, just like a tweet
As a rule of thumb, if the message could be tweeted (ie.
nothing confidential), then tweet instead of DM
