Stewardship Calling “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the
servant of all.” (MARK 9:35)
Jesus teaches us that we are called in Stewardship to serve one
another. Sacrifice is not a word that many people like to hear. We
think it means that we must give up something that we want.
However, the literal meaning of sacrifice is “to make holy,” from the
words “sacer” = sacred and “facere” = to make. In other words, we
make our lives holy by sharing our gifts in the service of God.

Assumption Regional
Catholic School News!
Dear Friends,
Peace and all good! At the end of today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus say: Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me. What beautiful words to claim as we journey through this new school year. Children are always to be welcomed. As adults we can encourage children to take on servant‐leader roles by reaching out to those who might be excluded. This is what Jesus asks of us: welcome the children!
Our days at school have been rich and full! Each day we our teachers welcome their students to be followers of Jesus and to live out our September Beatitude, Be Grateful. Academic subjects are presented in varied ways, and the students are excited about learning! We are off to a great start!
Last week, I shared the names of our amazing homeroom/major subject teachers, and this week I would like to share the names of our minor subject teachers, classroom aides, and staff: PreK 3 Aide: Mrs. Jennifer Hund; PreK 4A Aide: Mrs. Tammy Palmieri; PreK 4B: Aide: Ms. Megan Sooy; Kindergarten A Aide: Mrs. Roxanna Riley; Kindergarten B Aide: Mrs. Linda Spadaro; Art: Mrs. Maddie Giardina; Library/IDEA Teacher Assistant: Mrs. Noelle Meltsch; Music: Mrs. Cheryl Breitzman; Physical Education: PreK – 2: Mrs. Alicia Downey; Grades 3‐5: Mrs. Susan Steinberger; Grades 6‐8: Mrs. Kathaleen Thompson; Spanish: Mrs. Rachelle Crispi; Technology: PreK – Grade 5: Mrs. Rachelle Crispi; Grades 6‐8: Ms. Patricia Merlino; Compensatory/Supplemental Education: Mrs. Alia Suthard; Guidance Counselor: Mrs. Theresa Sartorio; Speech: Mrs. Mary Roman; Administrative Assistant: Mrs. Alicia Downey; Advancement Director: Mrs. Cathryn Flammer; Facilities Manager: Mr. Richard Sooy; Maintenance: Mr. Harry Martin; Nurse: Mrs. Mary Beth Abate; Cafeteria: Mrs. Maria Seyler and Mrs. Jennifer Ricciardi; Athletic Director: Mr. Tony Bruno. We are blessed with an awesome faculty/staff, and each day these women and men work tirelessly on behalf of our students!
There are no enough words to adequately thank you for all that you do to support the Mission of Assumption Regional Catholic School. Please know that you are held in our prayer each day, and that we are very grateful for you!
With gratitude,
Joan Dollinger Principal

At this moment in time, when our hearts are burdened with so many difficult issues, the Holy Spirit is guiding the Diocese of Camden on a mission. This mission, The Convocation of Catholic Leaders: The Joy of the Gospel in South Jersey, will give lay leaders from throughout the diocese the opportunity to reflect on the reality that the Catholic Church finds herself in today. In March 2019, participants will gather for workshops, reflection, prayer and discussion. These 650+ lay leaders, chosen from each of the parishes in the diocese, will take what they have learned back to their parishes and communities and address today’s challenges as a diverse community of missionary disciples.
An Evening of Prayer for the Victims of Abuse
and Reparation for the Sins of the Church. SAINT AGNES CHURCH
OUR LADY OF HOPE PARISH 701 LITTLE GLOUCESTER RD. | BLACKWOOD, NJ
SEPTEMBER 28, 2018 | 7PM WITH BISHOP DENNIS SULLIVAN
Please join Bishop Dennis Sullivan, and the clergy, religious and lay faithful of the Diocese of Camden, for an evening prayer service for victims of abuse and for reparation for the sins of the Church. In our faith, the act of penance, both for ourselves and for the Church as a whole, is an important and anc ient tradition. All the faithful in South Jersey are invited to join with the clergy to conduct such a penitential act in humble prayer for those who have been hurt by the Church and its leaders. To make this opportunity available to those who cannot attend the September 28 service, one week later, on October 5, 2018, each of the five deaneries of the diocese will host local prayer services for the victims of abuse and reparation for the sins of the Church. These will be held at 7PM in the following parishes:
SAINT JOSEPH THE WORKER 901 HOPKINS RD. | HADDONFIELD
CHURCH OF THE INCARNATION
240 MAIN ST. | MANTUA
SAINT ANDREW THE APOSTLE 27 KRESSON GIBBSBORO RD. | GIBBSBORO

CAMPAIGN FOR THE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY OF SOUTH JERSEY
camdendiocese.org
OUR PLAN
The Catholic Community of South Jersey has evolved tremendously over the course of its 80 year existence. Now, the time has come for this generation of Catholics to contribute to the great history of our diocese. We must invest in evangelization programs, lay faith formation, and professional development for parish staff and ministers.
As vital and active members of the Diocese of Camden wishing to make our contribution, we are beginning the Catholic Strong Campaign to provide the resources needed to ensure our parishes are financially stable, strengthen Catholic education, expand our outreach capabilities, and enhance our evangelization efforts. A successful campaign will ensure the vitality of our faith communities and ultimately meet the evolving needs of our Diocese.
Every parish will share in these efforts with an allocated goal. Our parish target is to raise a minimum of $1,245,000, of which we will receive 70% of the collected amount (or a minimum of $871,500) that will go toward parish needs. Additionally, we will receive 80% of all funds collected over our parish target. We will also include our 2018 House of Charity target ($144,446) in the overall total. Therefore, our total parish target is $1,389,446. We will use our share of funds to address the following needs:
