The Wimbledon Club is a multisports club with separate sections for squash, tennis, cricket, hockey and a gym.

The club facilities include a first floor bar and restaurant, with balconies overlooking the tennis courts and cricket pitch, extensive changing rooms and shower facilities. The club is committee led with the cricket programme and coaches being managed by the Cricket Director.

The junior cricket programme is hugely successful with around 60 boys in each of the U5- U15 age groups. Our girls programme is going from strength to strength and now offers cricket to U5-U15 as well.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

PARKINGCricketers parking is on Church Road, where parents are able to walk in to drop off and collect their children. (It is not possible for junior cricketers and their parents to park inside the club grounds as there is not enough space). Children must be collected from the area in front of the club house where they will be with the coaches until parents arrive. It should also be noted that only adult club members are allowed to park in the car park area from the nets to the Club house. All parents are of course welcome to stay during the training session – the bar area will be open as normal.

WET WEATHERDespite all our best efforts we are not able to control the weather! As a result occasionally we have had to cancel all junior cricket. We make every effort to leave this decision as late as possible on a Friday evening or Sunday morning in the hope that we do not need to cancel. Since we cannot ring, or answer calls from around 600 participants, we have put some procedures in place so you can check if cricket is on.

FRIDAY NIGHT & SATURDAY MORNING SESSIONS AT THE CLUBA decision will be made by 5pm on Friday. If the sessions are cancelled then a message will be left on the homepage of the cricket section on the Club website from 5pm.

SUNDAY MORNING SESSIONS AT THE CLUB A decision will be made by 8.30am on Sunday morning. If the sessions are cancelled then a message will be left on the Club Website from 8.30am.

CLUB MATCHES – HOME OR AWAYIf you are due to play for one of the teams then your match Manager will contact you as soon as he is advised of any decision. Please contact him direct if you are unsure.

WET WEATHER ONCE SESSIONS HAVE STARTEDWe have no indoor cricket facilities at any of the venues. All players will remain in the clubhouses/pavilions of the relevant Club, or ground until they are collected.

PLAYER PATHWAYSo where do the boys go after U15? We try really hard to keep as many of the boys playing cricket for the club after this age as possible. We have U17, U19 and U21 teams all managed by Neal Harvey, current Mid Surrey League Chairman, as well as the 5 Senior Saturday teams for the boys to play in. In fact around 40 of our U16 to U21s represent Wimbledon at senior level. It’s great to see and something the club is really striving to improve on every season. The juniors are Wimbledon CC’s future and it is great to see them turning out in such strong numbers.

As mentioned earlier, the club is always on the lookout for new young coaches. The club pays for all coaching qualifications for the boys so long as these qualifications are used to coach at Wimbledon CC. It is a great way for the boys to earn some extra pocket money as well! If you would

like to learn more about this please contact Matt Spriegel (email address on page 8).

AUTUMN AND WINTER NETSThe club runs cricket training all year round, with access to the sports hall at different times through the year. Please keep an eye out for emails, which notify you about upcoming autumn and winter nets through the offseason. These programs typically run for 10 weeks for both boys and girls. For full details see our website.
