Are you looking for an effective way to promote your business? TW Mag for Strawberry Hill and TW11 for
Teddington are each distributed to over 5,000 selected homes and businesses every month.
With rates to suit all budgets – we can also help create artwork
JUNE brings with it a change of season as we welcome in the summer, with its promise of long evenings and sunshine,
it can not fail to bring a sense of optimism. If I look back on
happy memories, most seem to have a backdrop of a glorious summer’s day.
So with that in mind the opportunity to create even more cherished memories is afforded by the multitude of events being held in the area this month, resulting in our events pages positively bursting at the seams. If your diary allows you to take advantage of them all don’t expect to spend a moment at home.
I hope you enjoy this edition of TW Mag and look forward to seeing you again next month.

IF YOU ARE IN ANY DOUBT of the creative talent that resides locally, then it is well worth booking
in some time to visit ARThouse in June.
The open studio event offers a unique opportunity to meet the many artists who produce their work locally and are inviting the public to visit them, see their work and the environment it is created in. ARThouse is held over two weekends in late June and early July and showcases over 500 venues across the borough, a surprising amount of which are to be found on your door step.
This is the borough’s 19th open studios festival, coordinated by Richmond Arts Service and features a fantastically diverse range of artists in venues such as boathouses, churches, classrooms, gardens, cafés and listed buildings.
Artwork ranges from printmaking to portraiture; wood sculpture to mosaics; nail art to bag making; ceramics; jewellery; stained-glass windows and photography and each participating artist gives the opportunity to learn about the artistic processes involved in their work.
The shared aim of ARThouse is to bring the artistic community together and celebrate local creativity. All the venues are free throughout the event and if you check in at five or more you are eligible to enter a prize draw.
Visit as many venues as you can and meet the talent that makes Richmond upon Thames such an artistically varied and inspiring place to work, visit and live in.
See page 8 for a list of local participants.
ARThouse runs from Friday 27th – Sunday 29th June and Friday 4th – Sunday 6th July

FFION HAGUE WILL be the guest speaker at the
third Dining Club evening on Thursday 12th June.
The Dining Club was set up last year to give people the chance to experience a number of evenings of ‘fine dining’ in
one of the historic rooms in the famous fairytale castle, as well as enjoying a talk from a guest speaker.
Mrs Hague started her career in the Civil Service holding a number of positions before she was appointed Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Wales. Since leaving the public sector she has worked as a Director at Arts & Business, a national business charity and has sat on a number of major non-profit boards. In 2000, Mrs Hague became a head hunter and since 2008, has been running her own practice in board evaluation. She is married to William Hague, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, whose constituency is Richmond in North Yorkshire.
At the dinner she will be speaking about her acclaimed first book, The Pain and the Privilege: The Women in Lloyd George’s Life which has given rise to many broadcasting projects, and Mrs Hague now appears regularly on Welsh television as a presenter and broadcaster.
“I am delighted to support the Dining Club by speaking at the evening. The club gives people a unique opportunity to support Strawberry Hill, one of the hidden jewels of Twickenham. The talk will be on the women in Lloyd George’s life – a particularly apt topic in the centenary year of the start of the Great War,” said Ffion Hague.
Ffion Hague Lends Her Support for Strawberry Hill
The Dining Club welcomes new members as it raises much needed funds towards the Strawberry Hill’s Peacock Appeal. The Appeal was established to help safeguard the long term maintenance of the house and garden, the continuation of the community and learning programme and to fund the return to the house of some of Horace Walpole’s treasures.
Antony Robson, Chairman of the Dining Club and Managing Director of Milestone & Collis Twickenham commented, “The Dining Club was launched last year and since then the popularity has grown, as each evening has been thoroughly enjoyed by the members. The next Dining Club evening in June promises to be very special and we are really pleased that Ffion is lending her support to Strawberry Hill by speaking at this event.”
