WHAT IS TUTOR
This Student Information System with Social Networking tools allows:
Students and parents to monitor their grades live. You will be able to organize your
curricular map (Benchmarks, Activities, and Percentages) from any place on Earth
with an Internet connection.
Generate Thought Leadership in each community member by allowing them to
create individual profiles with Photos, Blogs, and a comment wall. These blogs feed
the School’s public website (i.e. Extranet).
Complete surveys, forums, send direct messages and share multimedia content with
Students, Colleagues, and Administrators.
Tutor is a Cloud Application, no need for burdensome server or IT personnel
investments.

HOW TO WRITE BLOG POSTS.
Option A: Click on “Write a Post!” in the Administration Panel on your Group/Subject’s right
sidebar.
Option B: You can also go to “Manage Posts” (which we explained previously on What
Teachers See”) and post from there –indicating that it is related to your subject and selecting
which one from a combo box.
Content Tags: All posts are organized around Tags, as topics are known in Web 2.0. Just
think of a good name that summarizes what your post is related to and write it on the “Tags”
field as you create it. It will be indexed immediately with all other posts in the platform, and
also on an individual tag directory within your own group.
Surveys: Take advantage of your post to survey readers. Write a question and create several
options. The system will calculate percentages as your students vote for their favorite
answer.

How to integrate multimedia content Youtube – scribd- slideshare- others
When you’re writing your post, you can integrate multimedia content from any other
platform that gives you an HTML code. With these lines of code, which you can easily get
from Youtube, Scribd, and Slideshare, you will give your communication a twist. Each of
these platforms has a unique way to point at this HTML code, but it generally appears under
the title EMBED—which means, “to insert code into another website”.
The steps are:
1. When creating your Blog Post, click on HTML
2. Paste on this dialog box any code that you obtained from an external site

How parents see Grades
Parents must click on “Solicita las Calificaciones de tu Hijo en Tiempo Real”, one of the main
links at www.altamira.edu.co . Once their email has been registered by the administrator as
belonging to a given child’s parent, he/she will receive an instant grades report whenever
needed.
