• Location- near the north pole• Description-its very cold and it has permantly frozen layer of

ground• Soil Type- permafrost • Precipitation- the majority point of precipitation is in summer

especially June with he most rain in February and March• Temperature- winter: 18 degrees Fahrenheit sometimes as low

at -58 degrees Fahrenheit • Climate- Tundra climate is usually found between 60 degrees

and 75 degrees latitude lines

• Plant species: Arctic tundra wild flowers, Alaska lichen, Polytrichum moss, ect..

Tundra Adaptations Needed for Survival

• Plant: low growing due to lack of nutrience , being close to grown helps plants from freezing some plants clump together to keep from freezing

• Animals: animals adapt by burrowing underground and having thick fur that turns white in the winter
