EASTER MESSAGE

From Elizabeth Simcoe, Parish Life Director

The image on the cover of our Easter bulletin is a photograph of the Resurrection window seen on the east side of our church. This beautiful photo of this exquisite window was taken by our parishioner, Michael Joyce. As we continue to unfold the Mystery of Easter in our personal lives, I offer this prayer for your consideration:

Resurrection

Eternal Cosmic Christ, to you time is not; our comings and going are all of one piece. I pray for the grace of resurrection, the gift of transformed life.

Resurrection takes time; the process is its own. What was it like for you to leave the tomb, and realize that you were newly born? I pray that I may feel that grace, trust it and let it envelope me.

Is there anything I should leave behind as you did your burial cloths?

Is there anyone to whom I should say, “Do not hold onto me,” as you spoke to Mary of Magdala?

Is there anyone whom I should visit, revealing the newness of who you are creating me to be?

Mindful that your wounds remain visible, I know that so too must mine. They are a source of empathy and a reminder of lessons (hopefully) learned. They demonstrate that wounds do not signify defeat, but rather perseverance.

Resurrection, it seems, is not a particular moment but a way of living outside of time and space but cognitive of the world that inhabits them.

I pray for the grace of resurrection, to be one with you in new life. Amen.

May you enjoy the fullness of Easter joy, Elizabeth
