We stock a range of uprated brake products from pads to 4-pot conversion kits. Brake pads We stock replacement pads in Mintex M1144, EBC Ultimax Kevlar and EBC Greenstuff. Uprated pads can be used with either standard discs or uprated cross-drilled discs. The Kevlar pads give excellent bite from cold with a wider heat range than standard pads. The M1144 and Greenstuff pads will withstand higher temperatures whilst still giving good performance from cold. The EBC pads also produce less dust than other materials. TR4-6 aluminium panels The harder any vehicle is driven, the faster parts wear out. A reduction in all- up weight will slow this process. Let’s start the lightening where it doesn’t cost anything, by emptying the car of all unnecessary bric-a-brac back onto the garage shelves, or just eat less doughnuts. Lightweight outer body panels will give you an appreciable saving in weight, and they don’t have to be fitted in pairs or sets, merely as required. Telescopic conversion bracket kits

If your car has lever arm dampers fitted you will need one of these bracketkits to enable the fitment of telescopic shock absorbers.

TR2-4A live axle.This kit gives improved action as well as locating the axle better. The topbracket is bolted to the shock absorber mounting and the axle bracket isbolted and welded to the axle.

TR4A-6 live axle.For TR4A-6 there is a choice depending on how you use the car and how youprefer the brackets to mount. Telescopic shock absorbers

The next step to improving the handling of your car is to fit good qualityadjustable shock absorbers. Although supplied individually, shock absorbersshould always be replaced in pairs.

Koni adjustable shock absorbers are renowned for their quality andreliability. The adjustments must be made with the units off the car. Spaxshock absorbers will give excellent service on all models, plus, they havethe ability for the adjustments to be made on the car. Gaz shock absorbersare specifically designed for fast road/sport applications and feature on-caradjustment, double lipped piston seals and zinc plated bodies.

All of the above adjustable shock absorbers have a three year warranty, thezero setting is equivalent to the standard setting.

Uprated suspension bushes

The first stage in improving your suspension is to check all your bushes -there’s no point buying springs and dampers if the bushes are worn out.These suspension bushes improve the handling by reducing the amount ofunwanted flex in the standard type of bush, leaving the suspension to movein the direction intended by the designers.

Polyurethane is the best solution for road use. It gives improved locationwithout having a detrimental effect on noise levels or a harsh ride. Addedadvantages are improved longevity and unlike rubber it is not affected byultra violet light, water, salt, oil or petrol. The Superpro bushes come with asteel sleeve and grease where necessary and are available eitherindividually, as either front or rear sets or as a complete car set.

As well as polyurethane, we also offer - depending on the application, hardrubber and nylatron bushes. Hard rubber bushes are as the originals but, notsurprisingly, made of a harder rubber to improve location. Nylatron bushesare solid, so location is vastly improved. They do however cause a largeincrease in noise, vibration and harshness so are mainly for track use.

Rear anti-roll bar kits

The fitting of a rear anti-roll bar will cause the car to corner flatter by limitingroll. On cars with independent rear suspension when used in conjunctionwith an uprated front anti-roll bar, the result will be more neutral handling,improved stability when cornering and braking and restricted understeeringtendencies. On cars with a solid rear axle a rear bar tends to promoteoversteer, which can be interesting.

Spring and shock absorber kits

Developed over years of research and development, these spring and shockabsorber kits will upgrade your cars suspension for fast road use, tighteningthe overall feel of the car. Kits include uprated and lowered front and rearsprings and front and rear shock absorbers*.

*TR4A-6 kits do not include rear shocks, but come with spring mountingrubbers. For maximum benefit, use with either uprated lever arm dampers or a telescopic shock absorber conversion kit. TR7 kits also include strutgaiters and lowered bump stops.

Uprated lever arm dampers

We supply new, non-exchange uprated shock absorbers. Built on the originalArmstrong equipment, each unit is tested to check its performance againstthe design parameters. The valves are individually set to provide the correcthydraulic characteristics for the application. If your standard shocks are ingood condition, we also stock competition valves should you wish to upratethem, as well as shock absorber oils so you can tweak your damping rates.

We suggest the 25% uprated shocks are suitable for fast road and the 50%uprated shocks are for competition use only.

Uprated front anti-roll bars and kits

A front anti-roll bar should be fitted or if already fitted as standard upgradedwhen the engine and suspension are modified. This vertical link is specially machined to give 1.5 degree of negativecamber, as opposed to the 1 degree of positive camber early TR’s have fromfactory. Grip is improved as the tyre is more upright when the wheel is underload during cornering.

TR4A-6 chassis strengthening brackets

The lower front inner wishbone brackets which are welded to the chassis areweak points of the front suspension. They are often found to be cracked oreven broken away from the chassis. Tuning advice

When tuning your car to get more power you need to get more air and fuelthrough the system in the right proportions. The first stage is to replace therestrictive standard exhaust system and air filter, the fuelling would thenhave to be adjusted to suit. Beyond this you are looking at modifying theengine internals with a gas flowed big valve cylinder head, performancecamshaft and possibly a bigger bore.

Whilst you are in there you can fit lightened and/or strengthened internals.Again the fuelling would have to be adjusted to suit, possibly with Webercarburettors. Other routes to bigger power outputs include supercharging ornitrous injection.

Uprated rack mounts

The rubber steering rack mounts, whilst insulating the steering wheel fromsome of the road imperfections lose some of the feel from new, this getsworse with age and ends up with Rack float which if bad enough is an MOTfailure. Solid rack mounts last many years and give more direct steering. TheSuperpro rack mounting bushes are direct replacements for the originalrubber versions. They reduce rack float and have a longer life expectancy.

Our quick rack has a high ratio pinion giving you lock-to-lock in only 2.5turns, compared to the standard 3.5. Lumenition ignition

Lumenition electronic ignition kits are well known as being among the finestaftermarket electronic ignition systems available. This system basicallyreplaces both the contact points and condenser with an optical switch andpower module. The power module is an electronic device that receives a pulsefrom the optical trigger which switches the coil. The trigger eliminates contactbounce, arcing, mechanical wear and spark splatter, reducing maintenanceand increasing reliability. With minimal wiring and modifications this kit is verydiscreet. Note: Installation of a power module requires a distributor fitting kit.

A performance ignition kit is available, it includes a power module and a highoutput coil. The microcircuit control of the coil current gives optimumperformance across high engine speed ensuring maximum spark energy atthe coil. A fitting kit, to suit the distributor application, is also required. Positiveearth wiring instructions are available from your branch. All engines will benefit from a strong spark being delivered at exactly theright time. When you fit a Mallory twin point high performance distributor,that is exactly what you will get. TR2-4A alternator conversion

There are three problems associated with dynamos. Firstly: They barely putout any charge below about 2,000rpm. Secondly: If you try to run them fasterthey tend to disintegrate. Thirdly: Even when running at a significant speedthey don’t put out much charge. The solution is to fit an alternator which willsupply sufficient power to run all your cars electrical systems and anyaccessories you may have added over the years.

Rev limiter

You may not use your car flat out, but this could save you from an expensiverepair bill if the engine over revs. This unit works by progressively mis-timingthe spark, preventing an increase in engine speed. Fully adjustable, andsuitable for 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engines. This could prevent damage to yourwallet as well as your engine.

Non-leak battery

Suitable for most 12 volt applications it is a totally sealed, maintenance freebattery that will not leak, even if split. The acid is completely absorbed intoglass mat separators between the plates. Other advantages are that asthere is less internal resistance it offers more cold cranking capacity than aconventional wet battery. It is also more resistant to heat and vibration andhas a slower self discharge rate than a wet battery (loses 2-3% a month asopposed to a wet battery losing about 15% a month). Great in any car,particularly good for sports or competition use due to its small size (20cm x20cm x 13cm). Its unique design means that it can be shipped by mail order.

Battery cut-off switches

Dynalite charging system

For owners wishing to fit an alternator but wishing to keep the originalappearance for aesthetic reasons or for competition scrutineering rules theDynalite is the answer. Basically an alternator in a dynamo casing, it comescomplete ready to fit to negative earth cars. Positive earth cars will need tobe converted to negative earth using the instructions provided.

Narrow belt conversion kit

The fitting of a narrow belt conversion allows the use of a crank pulley witha harmonic damper. This all but eliminates the inherent resonance that cancause the crankshaft to break. This kit includes crank harmonic damper,spacer, bolt, washer, alternator pulley, aluminium water pump pulley and fanbelt. The crank damper necessitates the use of an electric fan and theremoval of the fan and fan hub.

For those determined to keep the original, rather agricultural fan, we cannow supply an un-damped narrow belt kit. As you probably realised thecrank pulley is solid and does not have the harmonic damper. The undampedkit is not suitable for competition use or sustained high revs. Replacementparts for the narrow belt kits are available, please contact your local branchfor details.

Spin-on oil filter conversions

Fitting a spin-on filter adaptor makes changing the oil a much easier andcleaner task, it also prevents the oil draining out of the filter giving better oilpressure on start up.

Spitfire anti-drain filter conversion

This uses a special adaptor bolt to allow a filter with a 3/4” UNF thread andan internal stack pipe and non return valve to stop the oil draining out of thefilter. This means the oil is pumped around the engine immediately on startup without having to fill the filter first. Only for use with an oil cooler kit.

Oil cooler kits

Oil thins as the temperature increases, thinner oil reduces oil pressure andis less effective at preventing metal to metal contact. Longer journeys ordriving at sustained high speeds, such as on motorways, tends toexacerbate the problem. Fitting an oil cooler minimises this effect and helpsprevent engine damage. Our oil cooler kits come with mounting brackets andunions in a variety of styles depending upon your requirements. Thermostatickits include a thermostat so the oil does not go through the cooler until itreaches operating temperature, giving quicker warm up. The radiator issupplied separately so you can choose the most appropriate size for you.

Kenlowe fans

Kenlowe electric fans are a replacement for the standard mechanical fan.Fitting a Kenlowe fan will reduce the engine warm up time, preventexcessive cooling and allow the engine to operate closer to its optimumrunning temperature. Removal of the standard fan will help to reduce enginenoise, and will help improve power/mpg. Oil thermostats and gauge adaptors

Use one of these thermostats if you already have an oil cooler kit fittedwithout one. The standard thermostat has push fit connections for use withrubber hoses. It completely seals off the oil radiator until the oil temperaturereaches 74OC. The full flow thermostat has 1/2” screw in connections for usewith stainless hoses. It works by diverting the oil through the thermostatuntil it reaches 74OC. The temperature gauge adaptors fit into an oil line andallow the fitment of an oil temperature gauge. Again you can choosebetween push on connections for rubber hoses or screw in connections forstainless hoses.
