Great way to keep in touch By Lenny Austin, Worshipful Master Greetings Brothers, I hope this first spring newsletter find all of you well. The weather is certainly starting to change and I hope that we will be seeing the warm weather on a more consistent basis in the near future. I want to update everyone on the recent school of instruction that was held at our Lodge on March 1st. Many of you have attended school of instruction over the years and this year was very different compared to recent years. First, it was a smaller group consisting of Hudson St. Croix Lodge and RF Lodge 109. This was a very nice change because it allowed for more active participation by all of the attendees to participate in the school of instruction. Second, the school of instruction itself was formatted differently and the format was very hands on and allowed everyone an opportunity to participate. This new format really enhanced the learning for all individuals in attendance and it was well received. It is also worth mentioning that to date, our school of instruction was the largest attended school of instruction thus far. A special thanks to District 2 Lecturer Larry Ganske, Senior Grand Steward Gary Stang, and Grand Marshal Scott Paulson for conducting the school of instruction. I had the pleasure of attending a recent Master Mason Degree at Prescott Lodge and it was nice to see Brothers Fred Benson, Rod Rommel, John Howard, and Mike Elliot not only in attendance but helping raise a new brother for Prescott Lodge. We also had the opportunity to present Prescott Lodge with the District 2 Traveling Gavel which we recently received from the Collins Spring Valley Lodge. It is my understanding that Collins Spring Valley currently has the Friendship Gavel and I hope we are able to make arrangements in the future to make a trip to their lodge to receive the Friendship Gavel. I would also ask everyone to mark their calendars for the spring roadside cleanup which is set for Tuesday, April 12th at 5:30 pm. Hopefully we will have a great turnout and the cleanup goes fast. I looked recently and the ditches don’t look too bad. A word of caution, it sounds like the wood tick population is going to explode this year so didn’t forget your bug spray! Bring an appetite for burgers at Mainstreeter after cleanup. Lastly, I would like to thank our Senior Deacon, Randy Pfab for the incredible prime rib dinner he prepared for our last Lodge meeting. It was truly a treat and in talking with him I’m hoping we can plan another big meal before going dark this summer, and after many of our snowbirds have returned. I hope everyone has a great spring and I look forward to seeing you at Lodge. Greetings from the East
