What is IATA BSPBilling and Settlement Plan – A carrier neutral reporting/accounting system run by IATA

A network of approved Agents who issue Airline Ticket on behalf of the Airlines

A clearing instrument to reconcile the sales by Agents to the Airlines that own sales

Travel Agencies: Sell tickets on many carriers - Reports to one central point = BSP

AIRLINE: Many sales outlets - Reports received from one central point = BSP

Accredited Agent issues E-ticket via General Distribution system (GDS) .

Passenger pays and receives a E-ticket from the Agent

Airline carries the passenger

GDS sends ticketing information to the Data processes centre (DPC)

DPC, produces and uploads Reports on BSP link

IATA informs Bank about Remittance and Settlement amounts

Bank debits Agent 15th of every month – Remittance from Agents

Queue ManagementA Queue is an automated file of PNR’s or messages, which require servicing or handling. Each queue is identified by a number and optional queue identification.

A queue will hold either PNR’s, MESSAGES or PROFILE FILES but never a combination on the same queue

Reservation System places PNR’s on queue based on the action required, such as confirmation or schedule change notification.

The system determines correct queue placement of a PNR from the Subscriber Identification (SID) in the first field

Refund Process OverviewAll Refunds go to BSP (billing cycle 01st to end of every month).

BSP processes refund request.

BSP generates refunds remittance on 15th of every month.

Once the refund remittance received from BSP & it is sent to the back office system automatically.

Back office will automatically update the refunds and generate refunds remittance and send to Payment Getaway portal.
