The TSI assists districts interested in implementing trauma-informed programming. This invites schools and their districts to undergo a culture change, not at once, but in a thoughtful and steady manner. We begin with a consult to explore your interests and desired outcomes. From there we provide a series of services to help you implement trauma-informed processes congruent with a school's specific needs. We'll provide more details as you are interested.

What are Trauma-Informed Schools? Trauma-informed programming reflects a growing movement world-wide impacting schools and other institutions caring for vulnerable and marginalized populations.

Trauma-informed schools have chosen to redesign their school culture based on advances in the neurobiology of trauma and attachment, and the staggering ACES data identifying the severity of social and learning needs of today's PK-12 students.

While the same data informs program ethos and guiding principles, each school within a district contextualizes program specifics according to the needs of their community.

The Trauma Response Institute (TRI) promotes humanitarian aid as social justice in support of the resiliency of individuals and communities impacted by chronic stress and trauma. Our ecosystemic approach invites us to account for the biological, psychological, relational, and cultural factors which contribute to risk and resiliency.

Through our education, research, and service events we support a variety of professionals involved in immediate and long term trauma care and recovery services.

The TRI offers a 12-unit post-graduate certificate in trauma response services. Many courses are available as continuing education events for those not seeking graduate credit. Visit our website or contact the TRI for more information.

The School of Education is committed to fulfilling the conceptual framework of Think Critically, Promote

Justice, and Transform Practice. Meeting the needs of PK-12 students impacted by trauma is essential to providing the tools needed to become successful. For us, this is a social justice issue that must be addressed. We invite you to connect with us and learn more about how we can work together to support your school community.
