Transas Crane Simulator is designed to train crane operators in both routine and emergency conditions. The simulator provides a realistic and safe learning environment, helping to reduce the risk of accidents and decrease training costs.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES ■ Training in general container handling and specific crane operations, related to combined vessel loading and unloading operations

■ Safe handling of various container types ■ Effective container transfer and optimal path of motion

■ Reducing load on the structure ■ Developing engineering, operational and team building skills for crane operators

■ Assessment of individual competence in supporting crane operations.

INSTRUCTOR CAPABILITIES ■ Monitoring and recording the trainee in online mode ■ Changing conditions during exercise (weather, time of day, etc.) ■ Pausing an exercise for analysis or commenting on trainee actions ■ Saving completed exercise for playback ■ Entering faults and malfunctions for any type of crane equipment ■ Behaviour of the crew, stevedores, terminal employees, drivers and equipment operators.

FEATURES ■ Accurate mathematical modelling is based on the real physical properties of the equipment. Various physical interactions are considered and displayed: collision, blow, blocking, shaking, friction and more

■ Weather and other external forces are simulated and influence the model: ■ Visibility (fog, mist, rain, snow) ■ Time of day (dawn, day, dusk, night) ■ Illumination (shadows, switching on/off crane illumination, illumination system failure) ■ Friction (adjustment of friction of load and surface/spreader; ice modelling, automatic change of friction when it’s raining)

■ Wind (influence on crane, hauling device and load; selection of wind direction, wind force (Beaufort 0-11); fluctuation amplitude; windless regions)

■ State of the art visual system developed especially for marine simulation with built-in image correction system, providing a cost-effective alternative to hardware solutions

■ Emergency conditions modelling. Trainee develops skills in strong wind or when equipment is approaching its limit

■ Joint vessel loading training: crane operator can be trained with other specialists involved in the operation, due to the common platform used in Transas simulators.
