Tracking an artist/band throughout their career

Avril LavigneI have chosen to look at a pop artist to track their career as it is similar to what I would like to create in my final construction of a music video.Early life in music:Avril Lavigne- Began her career as a singer song writer at quite a young age. When she was 15 she first performed on stage alongside Shania Twain, after winning a contest on the radio. By the age of 16 she had signed a two album recording contract with Arista Records, worth more than $2 million. In 2002, a year later, she was entering the music industry with he debut album let go. After this she became a well known very popular female pop punk artist in the music industry. With her popular representation as a pop punk artist she picked up a few common nicknames such as skater punk which she revealed in her single sk8er boi and pop punk princess which she used in girlfriend; a number one single. By featuring her nicknames within her persona within her music videos showed her connection with her target audience using their nicknames as her own brand within the music industry.Music career: (number ones)Lavigne has had a total of six number ones throughout her music career, complicated in 2004 after her second album, under my skin, was released in the USA and reached number one in many counties around the world. This album also reached number one in the US billboard 200, she sold over 10 million copies. Her other five number ones alongside complicated include; girlfriend, sk8er boi, Im with you, My happy ending and nobodys home. As an American Artists she is one of the top selling artist selling 11 million copies certified by the RIAA. Her forth album release Goodbye Lullaby released in march 2011 gave Lavigne her forth top 10 album on the US Bill board 200, it further developed her progress in her music career by three months later she began working on her titled fifth studio album, which was released by Epic Records in 2013.

I'm the motherfuckin' princessShowing that she included the brand name given to her by her target audience she included it as part of her lyrics within her number one girlfriend

As well as recording her own albums she also donated two cover songs to the 2012 Japanese animated film One Piece Film: Z: How you remind me (originally recorded by Nickelback) and Bad Reputation (by Joan Jett).Lavignes Music Career (2012- present)Fifth Album:April 2013 Lavigne released her lead single from her fifth studio album Heres to Never Growing Up (produced by Martin Johnson of the band Boys like Girls); it reached top 20 on the Billboard hot 100 as well as one of the top singles in both Australia and the UK. Her fifth album eponymously titled Avril Lavigne was released in November 2013 and sold 125,000 copies in the US and Canada. It was certified gold and received a Juno Award nomination for POP album of the year. In 2014 Lavigne opened for Boy band Backstreet boys in a world like this tour and played the music festival Summer Sonic in Tokyo, Japan.
