Take a trip to the Martyrdom Museumat Auschwitz, a ghastly reminder of the consequences of intolerance and cruelty. Head to the Jewish Community Center for Shabbat dinner with the community. Pay a visit to Oscar Schindler’s factory, the site from which Schindler was able to save more than a thousand Jews. Our time in Krakow also corresponds with the Jewish Culture Festival, one of the largest festivals of its kind in the world. Golden Tulip Kazimierz Hotel (3B, 2L,1D)

Dear Friends and soon-to-be Friends, We’ve got an amazing itinerary planned for this educational travel tour of Poland. I hope you’ll join me. I am a cultural anthropologist who writes and teaches on migration, memory, loss and identity in the Jewish world. Poland is a fantastic place to explore all these themes. Our travels will take us back in time to understand the rich and dynamic 1,000-year history of this important center of the Jewish world. We’ll grapple with the devastation of the Holocaust, and explore how this loss is being remembered in the Polish landscape today.

I’m particularly excited about our opportunities for private tours and behind-the-scenes conversations with Jewish leaders and professionals dedicated to preserving the past and engaging new, dynamic and complex forms of community life in Poland today. All of these experiences will be enriched by thoughtful group discussion, which I look forward to facilitating. To top it off, our time in Krakow corresponds with the twenty-seventh annual Jewish Cultural Festival, one of the largest and best known international Jewish gatherings in the world.

I hope to share all of this with you!

We’ve got an amazing itinerary planned for this educational travel tour of Poland.
