Delivering solutionsthrough the TOTAL PARCOQuality Campaign TOTAL PARCO’s Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) department - in coordination with the Consumer Sales Department (CSD) - launched a “Quality Campaign” earlier this year for both existing and potential key customers. The initiative involves a multi-facet approach including – but not limited to - sample drawing procedures, on-site fuel testing and safe decantation procedures training at customers’ premises. The campaign also consists of a surprise visit for quality checks of tank lorries by the Quality Control van, quality testing of product, product knowledge and sampling training of the staff involved, and attaining feedback of customers on mobile video/feedback form. The idea behind the campaign was to utilize TPPL’s quality tools/equipment and HSE expertise as a distinct marketing advantage as well.

The activity itself certainly has a major value addition impact to TPPL’s products & services, alongside being highly appreciated by customers, who have acknowledged the Quality Van as being an excellent and efficient service to resolve any customer quality issue in the shortest time possible.

During the first phase, key TPPL customers were engaged, while potential customers are planned to be targeted in subsequent phases, with a list of key customers having been identified in each region for engagement. Out of a total of 20 engagement sessions planned for existing customers in 2019, the diligence of both the HSEQ and CSD teams has resulted in the successful conduction of 15 engagement sessions already.

SAFE-TO-LOAD (STL) DIGITALIZATION | APNA HAI TOTAL

In accordance with TPPL’s growing focus on embracing digitalization - coupled with the company’s firm commitment towards safe transport mechanisms - the STL digital platform was introduced to not only cater to increased productivity, but also to take another huge step in leading the industry from the front when it comes to digitalization of processes and operations.

The platform – in the form of a Digital App – allows for close contact and monitoring with Carriage Contractors, to eradicate inefficiencies by opening up channels of smooth coordination in terms of safety, thereby also advocating the implementation of TPPL’s safety standards. This is achieved by utilizing digital transformation to report and communicate any anomalies pertaining to safe working methods, with the transport team actively present in the loop to oversee and act wherever deemed appropriate.

This initiative not only makes the entire fleet data available with the click of a button - thereby improving productivity - but also supports better decision making. Moreover, the added bonus of utilizing an efficient, paper free environment is also a step towards a more modern and sustainable method of operating.

TEXTILE SPECIALTY PRODUCT MISSION | APNA HAI TOTAL

With the challenges that have sprung forth in the textile sector in terms of productivity, supply chain and maximizing value-addition, the need of the hour called for innovation in this field, especially considering textiles is a major contributor of Pakistan’s exports. In keeping with the company’s value of Pioneer Spirit, TPPL took the initiative by the reigns, resulting in a textile specialty product mission being arranged in Pakistan. This involved a visit of the Segment Manager and Technical Staff from TOTAL HQ to support TPPL in the field of textile specialty fluids and greases. One of the product ranges in our offering is that of Coning Oil, which is used during the manufacturing of fine count multifilament yarn on high speed winding processes. Pakistan has three major yarn producers that import Coning Oil from various sources. The biggest prospect for this product was a large scale industry based in Karachi with significant annual consumption. Previously, Coning Oils manufactured by China were being employed for use; however after successful presentation and negotiation a product trial was agreed upon.

The trial was initiated on 3 machines, for which an initial order was placed, following the success of which additional quantities were ordered. With the completion of these trials, TPPL can be a local market leader for the sector in question. Further plans to initiate local production of this range are already in the pipeline as well. This project has also supported towards developing additional avenues, as based on this lead, work was also commenced in the Hydraulic Sector, which possesses the second highest volume (after lubricants) in this particular industry.

Along with Coning Oils, an additional opportunity came in the face of Knitting Oils, which TPPL capitalized on by meeting representatives of a large scale Knitting company in Faisalabad. Based on the satisfactory results of the meeting, TPPL successfully obtained approval to go for trial of knitting oil as well, further portraying the determination and performance-minded attribute of the company to maximize on value addition wherever possible.

08 | FOURTH EDITION - 2019 09 | FOURTH EDITION - 2019

On 14th June, 2019, TOTAL PARCO Pakistan Limited (TPPL) ventured forth into a strategic agreement with the prominent multinational food manufacturing organization, The Kellogg Company, that houses multiple well-known brands amidst its portfolio. The recent partnership will ensure a strong presence of Kellogg’s items – ranging from Pringles to Kellogg’s cereals and nutritional products – across TPPL’s Bonjour Shops in Pakistan (through Kellogg’s distribution partner, United Brands Limited).

This initiative, and the relentless efforts from the team that went behind making this possible, marks another successful step for TPPL in steadfastly aligning itself with the company’s value of always maintaining a Performance Minded attitude. Moreover, the increase in the product

offering at Bonjour Shops now will provide a wide array of selection options provided by the Kellogg Company for our valued customers to choose from upon visiting TPPL retail stations.

The signing ceremony was held in TPPL’s Head Office in Lahore where CEO TPPL, Mr. Olivier Sabrie, was present, with senior management from both TPPL and the Kellogg Company attending the event as well. On the occasion, Mr. Olivier Sabrie stated that TPPL stands as one of the leading oil marketing companies of Pakistan when it comes to business development in the Shop, Food & Services (SFS) category. He further went on to state that with TPPL’s current network of more than 240 shops further growing, the company’s convenience stores chain offers customers a variety of categories for their daily and “on the go” needs. On the agreement, he added that TPPL promises quality products to its customers, with the strategic alliance with Kellogg being an endorsement of the value that TPPL associates with the offerings at retail outlets and associated services.

On 2nd July, 2019, TPPL entered into a strategic business partnership with Idemitsu Lube Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited, a prominent Japanese lubricant manufacturing company that has started operations in Pakistan in 2019. TPPL has been

previously engaged with the company for the past 10 years as it operated from Dubai under Idemitsu Lube Middle East & Africa. Displaying the company’s value of Pioneer Spirit, TPPL capitalized upon Idemitsu’s official entrance to the Pakistani market with this agreement, thereby ensuring that not only more business is captured, but the already steadfast relationship between the organizations works towards flourishing even more. As TPPL also already possesses a strong foundation with the businesses of 3 prominent Japanese automotive companies – namely, Suzuki, Honda Cars & Yamaha – this strategic agreement would further enhance ties and work towards growing sales and profitability for all entities involved. This initiative further embeds TPPL’s place as a company that is always encompassed by a Performance-Minded attitude – a fact which is a reflection of another one of our core values as well.

10 | FOURTH EDITION - 2019 11 | FOURTH EDITION - 2019

KEAMARITERMINAL (KT)

FACTS & FIGURES: Average monthly throughput for 2019 at KT:

Innovations and expansions at the terminal:

The Keamari Terminal contains a plethora of innovative facilities, which are continuously evaluated to implement the latest technical standards. As part of the initiative to further improve upon the operations and processes at Keamari Terminal, an expansion project had been underway since 2017. In conjunction with this project, new storage tanks have been added - each with a capacity of 3000 MT - along with extensive piping for the delivery of fuel. Another impressive feat that has been accomplished is the construction of a new gantry which includes six loading bays with multi-grade filling for MG and HSD, including two decanting points. This gantry is fed through a dedicated new pumping system for maximum flow and to speed up the decanting of tank trucks. The most modern equipment has been installed here, including Metering System Loading Arms, Swing Ladders and a Fall Arrest System. As a result of this addition, the product filling efficiency at the terminal has been increased from 2800 MT to 4000 MT per day.

TPPL is always aligned towards ensuring the implementation of the highest levels of safety across all our locations, and the Keamari Terminal is no exception. In keeping with our value of Safety, construction of new pump rooms has been completed which abide by global standards of the Total Group. Moreover new fire pumps have been installed that have increased fire pump capacity from 2000 GPM to 3000 GPM. The fire piping network has also been converted from 8” to 12” diameter pipeline. This will aid in enabling terminal operations to overcome any incident on an immediate basis. Furthering TPPL’s commitment to Safety, a foam piping network has been laid and foam generators have been mounted.

All this portrays how Keamari Terminal, whilst operating at highest levels of optimization, also employees the latest innovations. This continuous innovation is a mantra adhered to at the terminal to find the best possible products and

Holding the title of the oldest terminal, it is a flagship location for TPPL and serves as one of the primary foundations of the fuels’ supply chain. The facility is the only owned terminal able to receive imported white oils through pipeline connectivity with Karachi Port. The town of Keamari itself is one of the oldest areas of Karachi and is a main coastal town on Hawke's Bay. Considering that the area houses some of the country’s major economic installations - including the port of Karachi - the presence of the terminal here is ideal and has a geo strategic importance of its own.

The continued performance of the terminal stands as testament to the commitment of the 81 employees who are a part of it. The fact that some of the employees are also third generation workers at the terminal further portrays the sheer dedication and will of the workforce present. BOWLING VAGANZA | APNA HAI TOTAL

12 | FOURTH EDITION - 2019

TPPL always strives to provide a healthy work life balance to employees so that they manage to unwind, relax & take a break from the day to day work routine. Moreover, these planned activities also serve to strengthen the bond between employees even further, ensuring that they also engage in fun together as a cohesive unit. In order to maximize this spirit to the fullest, a “Bowling Vaganza” was arranged in Lahore and Karachi for TPPL employees.

At both the events, the zeal to participate was tremendous, portraying the eagerness of employees to be a part of this activity. This year’s annual bowling event was the perfect match to beat the heat. The participants were divided into teams, and asked to provide a team name and identity. Following a small warm up session, the employees dove right into the fun-filled competition. It was an absolute treat to see employees engage and enjoy themselves in a stress-free environment. Accompanying the bowling tournament itself was a lucky draw, fun filled games and a prize distribution ceremony, after which the memorable evening was finally rounded up by Hi-Tea arrangements. TPPL believes that nothing is as significant and constructive as a positive workplace culture, which is why steps are actively taken to provide avenues such as these to build a helpful and encouraging environment.

MOLIERE’S ‘THE SCHOOL FOR WIVES’ PLAY | APNA HAI TOTAL

13 | FOURTH EDITION - 2019

TPPL, along with the local performing-arts group

Theatre Wallay, collaborated with the Alliance

Francaise and the Embassy of France to present a

theatrical play on 14th July, 2019.

The play, held inside the Diplomatic Enclave Club 21

in Islamabad, was called The School for Wives

(L’École des Femmes) by Moliere - a world famous

dramatist, often considered by many in the literary

circles as the French equivalent of Shakespeare. The

play delves into the machinations of a patriarchal

society, depicting the manner in which women have

to combat and take decisions, whilst not

succumbing to the pressures and expectations of

the society they live in. An intriguing aspect of the

play was how, in spite of being written in the 1660s,

it could still resonate with audiences today,

portraying that while so much time has passed, the

way of the world may have not changed very much

since.

The occasion was also graced by the French

Ambassador Mr. Marc Barety, with the overall

response shown for participation in the event being

overwhelming and the play and cast being lauded for

their efforts. This initiative further reaffirms TPPL’s

stance in acting as a catalyst to support cultural

heritage & dialogue within Pakistan, with the play

being planned to be conducted in further selected

cities during the year as well.

In line with the company’s French roots, TPPL celebrated the national Bastille Day of France on the 15th of July, 2019. The felicitations started out with a congratulatory message and image placed within the special supplement for Bastille Day in the local Dawn newspaper, which was circulated nationwide.

Along with this, TPPL also had the privilege to be a part of a selective group of companies sponsoring the official Bastille Day celebrations conducted by the French Embassy in Serena Hotel. The event was attended by a host of prominent dignitaries and ministers, including the Federal Minister for Planning, Development & Reforms, Mr. Khusro Bakhtiar.

The exclusive, invite-only event started off with the national anthem of both countries, followed by a speech by the French Ambassador praising the long-lasting relationship between Pakistan & France. The Minister, Mr. Khusro, also took the opportunity to say a few words on the occasion pertaining to the presence of multiple French companies in Pakistan, amidst which he highlighted Total as being one of the key organizations. With an investment of more than 250 Million US$ in the last 5 years and a focus towards significantly investing in storage terminals, retail network development and other high-level projects of national interest, TPPL’s firm and successful presence portrays one of the biggest French investments in the history of the country - a fact which was well acknowledged by the audience on the day of the event.

PAKISTAN'S TOP FEMALE ENTREPRENEUR JOURNEYED TO PARIS | APNA HAI TOTAL

15 | FOURTH EDITION - 2019

TPPL hosted Total’s Startupper Challenge for the first time in Pakistan, where local young entrepreneurs were encouraged to come forth with innovative ideas and projects that would work towards the betterment of society. This year also marked the introduction of the Top Female Entrepreneur Award to encourage women entrepreneurs to take part, within which the award from Pakistan was given to Ms. Bisma Asif. As part of the Challenge, the 55 “Top Female Entrepreneurs” from all over the globe were invited to Paris to represent their country and become ambassadors of women’s entrepreneurship in their region. The following is Bisma’s journey of experiencing Paris and attaining international entrepreneurial exposure:

First things first, Bisma – how did you feel before heading out to Paris?I went to the Airport with a lot of excitement because it was my first ever trip abroad. I had never travelled outside of Pakistan, and being able to visit Paris as Top Female Entrepreneur of the region was not only a great opportunity, but a very special moment to cherish for me. I would like to thank Total PARCO for making this unique opportunity become possible.

Tell us more about your first few days in Paris and the program itself:On the first day, we were all split to our groups of incubators. My Incubator was School Lab - an innovation studio that has built an outstanding ecosystem to design and deliver great innovations to market. After lunch in the Incubator we underwent training on how to do a pitch, followed by a scrumptious dinner in the evening. On our second day, we went for an incubation session where we learned about design thinking and observation. In the evening, we engaged in a fun team building exercise in the form of a blind music test. Singing with the other women, dancing together, waving our flags while dressed up in our respective cultural dresses is a very fond memory that I will cherish forever. How did you feel about your experience with Total and the Startupper competition there? It was exhilarating. We had a breakfast session with Mr. Momar Nguer, the President of Total Marketing & Services, on our third day there. His insight into the business and advice for all of us for our future careers was extremely inspiring and valuable. This was followed by a digital women empowerment session and our pitch where we represented our host nations as the respective Top female entrepreneurs from each region. What seemed like an overwhelming experience at the start became one of the most uplifting moments of my life, as all of us women supported each other and were proud of making it there.

You must have been tired after all of this - what did you do in the remainder of the days in Paris? On the contrary, all of the energy resonating in the French capital seemed to be spurring us on more! On our fourth day in Paris, we were taken on a ‘Learning Expedition’ in which we visited some of the local start-ups of Paris; this gave me a whole new outlook on the way businesses can be developed. Following this, we visited the sprawling head office of Total in Paris and had a mentoring session in Total Booster, which is a network of accelerators of projects and businesses open to all collaborators of Total. Seeing all of the intensity and zeal going into the concept of entrepreneurship here was extremely motivational and instilled within me a sense to achieve and learn more.

Your journey sounds amazing and truly inspirational – how did your trip wrap up? For our final day’s training, we headed over to my incubator School Lab and learned about Business Modeling and Roadmap, following which we had a debriefing session. We shared our experiences with each other and recounted the wonderful memories we had constructed together. It was indeed a very informative and memorable experience. I made so many friends from all over the world.

I went to Paris alone but came back to my homeland with a lot of memories, learning, unique experiences and most importantly some lovely friends. I did not realize how attached I had gotten with every little thing there – from my room and friends to the incubator and being the representative of Total from Pakistan. TPPL is committed to promoting a culture of best practices and align activities with the business strategies, corporate policies and ethical business operations of the Total Group. It is with this frame of mind that TPPL routinely organizes Business Ethics and Compliance trainings at office and depot locations across Pakistan.

Employee cognizance and consciousness through regular conduction of compliance awareness sessions is essential in building a culture that monitors various risks facing the company, assessing them routinely at all levels and within all functions on a continuous basis. A robust compliance program for anticorruption and antifraud is also strictly adhered to at TPPL.

In addition to this, routine Business Ethics trainings are also conducted by the legal department, with the sessions most recently being concluded in terminals at Machike, Keamari and the Lube Oil Blending Plant. These informative trainings are designed to facilitate professionals in conducting business with integrity and honesty, in accordance with a code of guiding principles. As a resultant of this initiative, TPPL’s credibility and reputation as an ethical organization is further cemented. Some of the salient points touched upon in both these sessions range from prevention of bribery and anti-corruption, to due diligence and compliance with safety rules. The feedback from employees for these sessions was positive, with participants both appreciating the information and commending the initiative.
