From the Splash - Orange (B), cut:• (3) 2” x WOF strips. Sew the strips together end to end with diagonal seams and cut (2) 2” x 43 ½” strips.• (2) 2” x 26 ½” WOF strips.• (6) 2 ½” x WOF strips for the binding.

From the Dots - Black (C), cut:• (1) 2” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (8) 2” x 2 ⅛” strips.• (2) 1 ½” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (40) 1 ½” squares.• (1) 1 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (12) 1 ½” x 2” strips and (4) 1” x 1 ¼” strips.• (1) 6 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (20) 1 ¼” x 6 ½” strips and (10) 1” x 6” strips.• (3) 1 ½” x WOF strips. From the Bats - Cream (F), cut:• (2) 3 ⅝” x WOF strips. Sub-cut (8) 3 ⅝” x 6” strips.

From the Mini Pumpkins - Yellow (G), cut:• (1) 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 4 ½” x 5” strips.

From the Harlequin - Orange (H), cut:• (1) 5 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (3) 4 ½” x 5 ½” strips.

From the Tossed Owl - Cream (I), cut:• (1) 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut (2) 4 ½” x 5” strips.

From the Border Stripe - Cream (J), cut:• (2) 8 ½” x 67” Length of Fabric (LOF) strips.• (2) 8 ½” x 58” LOF strips.

From the Tossed Leaves - Cream (Backing), cut:• (2) 62” x WOF strips for the backing. Sew the strips together and trim to make the 62” x 71” back.

Trim to measure 25 ½” x 45 ½”

Sewing Instructions1. Sew (1) 2” x 43 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of the 23 ½” x 43 ½” Fabric A panel. Sew (1) 2” x 26 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A panel. Trim the block to measure 25 ½” x 45 ½” to make the Center Block (Fig. 1).

3. Follow Figure 4 for the seam direction to add a 1 ½” Fabric C square to each of the remaining corners of the 4 ½” x 5 ½” Fabric H strip to make (1) Unit 1 block (Fig. 5).

4. Repeat Steps 2-3 to make (3) Unit 1 blocks total.

2. Place (1) 1 ½” Fabric C square on the top left corner of (1) 4 ½” x 5 ½” Fabric H strip, right sides together (Fig. 2). Sew across the diagonal of the small square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 2). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 3). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle ¼” away from the sewn seam.

5. Repeat Steps 2-3 using (3) 4 ½” x 5 ½” Fabric D strips and (12) 1 ½” Fabric C squares to make (3) Unit 2 blocks (Fig. 6).

6. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 2” Fabric C strips to each side of (1) 1 ½” Fabric E square to make (1) Unit 3 strip (Fig. 7). Repeat to make (6) Unit 3 strips total.

7. Sew (1) Unit 3 strip to the top of (1) Unit 1 block. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 6 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the Unit 1 block. Sew (1) 1” x 6” Fabric C strip to the bottom of the Unit 1 block to make (1) Block One rectangle (Fig. 8). Repeat to make (3) Block One rectangles total.

8. Sew (1) Unit 3 strip to the top of (1) Unit 2 block. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 6 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the Unit 2 block. Sew (1) 1” x 6” Fabric C strip to the bottom of the Unit 2 block to make (1) Block Two rectangle (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (3) Block Two rectangles total.

9. Repeat Steps 2-3 using (2) 4 ½” x 5” Fabric G strips and (8) 1 ½” Fabric C squares to make (2) Unit 4 blocks (Fig. 10).

10. Repeat Steps 2-3 using (2) 4 ½” x 5” Fabric I strips and (8) 1 ½” Fabric C squares to make (2) Unit 5 blocks (Fig. 11).

11. Sew (1) 1” x 1 ¼” Fabric C strip to the top of (1) 1 ¼” x 1 ½” Fabric E strip to make (1) Unit 6 strip (Fig. 12). Repeat to make (4) Unit 6 strips total.

12. Sew (1) 2” x 2 ⅛” Fabric C strip to each side of (1) Unit 6 strip to make (1) Unit 7 strip (Fig. 13). Repeat to make (4) Unit 7 strips total.

13. Sew (1) Unit 7 strip to the top of (1) Unit 4 block. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 6 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the Unit 4 block. Sew (1) 1” x 6” Fabric C strip to the bottom of the Unit 4 block to make (1) Block Three rectangle (Fig. 14). Repeat to make a second Block Three rectangle.

14. Sew (1) Unit 7 strip to the top of (1) Unit 5 block. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 6 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the Unit 5 block. Sew (1) 1” x 6” Fabric C strip to the bottom of the Unit 5 block to make (1) Block Four rectangle (Fig. 15). Repeat to make a second Block Four rectangle.

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to the Quilt Layout while assembling.)15. Sew (1) Block Two rectangle, (1) 3 5/8” x 6” Fabric F strip, (1) Block Three rectangle, (1) 3 5/8” x 6” Fabric F strip, (1) Block One rectangle, (1) 3 5/8” x 6” Fabric F strip, (1) Block Four rectangle, (1) 3 5/8” x 6” Fabric F strip and (1) Block Two rectangle together, in that order. Sew the new strip to the left side of the Center Block.

16. Sew (1) Block One rectangle, (1) 3 5/8” x 6” Fabric F strip, (1) Block Four rectangle, (1) 3 5/8” x 6” Fabric F strip, (1) Block Two rectangle, (1) 3 5/8” x 6” Fabric F strip, (1) Block Three rectangle, (1) 3 5/8” x 6” Fabric F strip and (1) Block One rectangle together, in that order. Sew the new strip to the right side of the Center Block.

17. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 45 ½” Fabric C strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 38 ½” Fabric C strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

18. Center (1) 8 ½” x 67” Fabric J strip on one side of the Center Block and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼” from the top edge of the block and stop a ¼” from the bottom edge. DO NOT TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side.

19. Repeat Step 18 to sew (1) 8 ½” x 58” Fabric J strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block, making sure to stop and start ¼” away from each end of the block. To miter each corner, fold the Center Block on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (Fig. 16).

21. Layer and quilt as desired.

22. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

23. Bind as desired.

20. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 16), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼” seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners to make the quilt top.
