2013 Chaddick Municipal Development Awardfor Woodfi eld Regional Center Design GuidelinesTh is award recognizes a suburban unit of government that has been innovative in managing the development review process to promote favorable outcomes over a period of four years or more. Th e Chaddick Award identifi ed Schaumburg as utilizing best practices and innovation within land use regulation and control.

2013 Top City Meeting List for the Second Consecutive YearSchaumburg was ranked in Cvent’s list of the top 50 cities for meetings and events in the United States for the second consecutive year. Cvent, a leading cloud-based enterprise event management platform, developed the ranking based on meeting and event booking activity in the Cvent Supplier Network. Cvent evaluated nearly 5,700 U.S. cities featured on the Cvent Supplier Network to create the list. Activity was tracked between July 2012 and June 2013 and the ranking was then determined by a set of qualifying criteria consisting of: • Unique Request For Proposals Received • Total Room Nights • Awarded Request For Proposals • Awarded Room Nights • Percentage of Qualifi ed Meeting Venues

2013 Governor’s Home Town Awardfor 2012 Annual Recycling EventSchaumburg village employees and volunteers assisted with the coordination and implementation of the annual recycling event hosted by the village, Schaumburg Environmental Committee, School District 54, and Schaum-burg Township District Library. Th e village was delighted that over 126,000 lbs. of electronics, paper, batteries, clothing, and more were diverted from landfi lls during the 2012 event.

2013 Digital Cities SurveyPlaced seventh in the 30,000 and 74,999 population category for performance on a variety of technical fronts such as customer service, network infrastructure, network security, web presence, e-commerce, and more.

GFOA Award for 28th Straight YearTh e village received the prestigious Certifi cate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Offi cers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual fi nancial report/CAFR for the year ended April 30, 2012. Th is is the 28th consecutive year the village has received this award. Th e report was prepared completely by in-house personnel, providing a cost savings to the village.

North Schaumburg Redevelopment Plan and Project Build Something Special with SchaumburgSchaumburg will be creating a new Tax Increment Finance (TIF) District in the northeast quadrant of the village, which contains approximately 1,086 acres and is bounded by I-90, Roselle Road, Algonquin Road, and Arbor Drive. Th e district will create outstanding opportunities for investment and will expand housing, employment, hospitality, retail, and entertainment uses as well as access to the Convention Center to strengthen this area’s prominence in the community. Zurich and Sunstar have already committed a corporate presence within the district with the future construction of their corporate headquarters.
