AKLAND, California — Stephen Curry wasearly in his career, a long way from eventhinking about the NBA Finals.

His Golden State Warriors were in Cleveland, where Le-Bron James powered one of thebest teams in the league. Curry thinks the Warriors lost thegame (they did, one of their 56losses his rookie season) butcertainly remembers the chat.

James, already the best play-er in the game, pulled Curry aside leaving the court and toldhim to focus on his own effort, ignore any distractions aroundhim, make sure he was alwaysprepared.

“There is going to be a time when it’s all going to work outbecause you’ll be ready for that

moment,” Curry said Wednes-day of James’ message.

And now, it might happenagainst James.

The next chat between thesuperstars could be Thursday night at center court, beforeGame 1 of the NBA Finals.

Curry is now the NBA’sMost Valuable Player and theWarriors, no longer the lowly laughingstock from his rookieseason, won a league-best 67games during the regular sea-son. They have lost threetimes at Oracle Arena all sea-son, but that doesn’t fazeJames as he tries to end

Cleveland’s 51-year pro sportstitle drought in his first sea-son back there.

“I’ve been in so many loudarenas. This is going to be one

of them,” he said. “I’ve playedin OKC in the (2012) finals tostart off the series. I’ve playedin Boston. I’ve played in Detroit

when they were in their heyday.I’ve played in Chicago in 2011to open up the Eastern Confer-ence finals. I’ve played in San

     Antonio.For Curry, keeping things

normal Wednesday meant ahaircut and some sun by hispool. And he knows James willbe prepared, just as he once in-structed Curry.

“He’s a gamer,” Curry said.“You know he’s going to ready for big moments.”

James’ finals experience —he’s the first to play in fivestraight finals since Bill Russell’sCeltics of the 1960s — is oneadvantage for the Cavs againsta Warriors team with no players
