My Dear Parishioners,
January 22nd is the 46th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision (Roe vs. Wade) on
abortion. According to the Ordo, “all dioceses of the United States shall observe a Day of Prayer
for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children.” It is recommended that penances be offered for all
the sins against the dignity of the human person that have been committed through the heinous
acts of abortion. This is also a day set aside for prayer to restore the legal guarantee of the right
to life. The Masses for this day may use the prayers taken from “For Giving Thanks to God for
The Gift of Human Life,” or “For the Preservation of Peace and Justice.” All human life, from the
moment of conception to natural death, is a gift from God. We honor God as well as thank Him
by the good way in which we make use this great gift of life on earth. Remember that God made
us for Him, to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him. We can discover God in our lives and in
the lives of our brothers and sisters. With God’s help, we can look for God in all situations and
in each other. Therefore, in love, we are called to follow His will for us, to seek His Wisdom, and
to strive to have great respect for all of His creation. Let us all respect the great gift of life with
which God has entrusted to us.In Christ,

2019 Coffee & Donuts Sign Ups A reminder to all St. Monica ministry leaders that this year the focus will be on our Coffee & Donuts to showcase ministries. There will not be a Ministry Fair in 2019. St. Monica’s Catholic Education Ministry will begin its 2019 program on Sunday January 27 at 9:15am in Room 217 of the Family Center. We will begin with Bishop Barron’s latest DVD release entitled “Catholicism: Pivotal Players Volume Two”--- Leading with St. Benedict and St. Augustine. St. Monica Grief Support Group – The New Day Journal Sessions Have you suffered the loss of a loved one? St. Monica will have a Grief Support Group beginning on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 7pm-9pm, Room 212. Meetings will be held once a week for 10 weeks. You will meet in small groups with others going through similar experiences. Sessions are free and led by trained lay facilitators. Order Pulled Pork for the Big Game! The Big Game is on Sunday, Feb. 3 and the Knights are firing up their smoker to bring you their famous pulled pork. Knights will be taking orders after all Masses on Jan. 19/20 and 26/27. The pulled pork will be ready for pickup after 8am, 9:30am, and 11am Mass on Sunday, Feb. 3. Grupo de Luto y Duelo de Santa Mónica ¿Estas atravesando por el dolor de haber perdido a un ser querido? Ahora, estamos inscribiendo para participar en Grupo de Luto y Duelo que se iniciara el martes, 5 de febrero 2019, 7pm-9pm en el salón 212 de Sta. Mónica. El programa se lleva a cabo en 10 sesiones de grupo, junto a otras personas que están pasando lo mismo. Es dirigido por facilitadores laicos capacitados. No hay costo por las sesiones solamente debe comprar el libro de $10.00. La sesión también se ofrece en Ingles. PROCLAMADORES Servir en la Mesa del Señor como proclamador de la Palabra de Dios es un privilegio especial y un ministerio al cual se llama a personas que tienen la destreza especial en su habilidad para leer, tienen los sacramentos de Bautismo y Confirmación y están solteros o si están viviendo con su pareja están casados por la Iglesia. Los proclamadores se reúnen semanalmente para estudiar la Lectio Divina, (estudio de la Biblia) la cual invita al lector a vivir la Palabra de Dios en su diario vivir. Cada dos meses tienen reunión general para recibir Formación Continua, y una vez al año asisten a un retiro Espiritual. ¿Te sientes llamado a ser Proclamador y vivir este ministerio durante el año litúrgico? El 22 de enero es el 46 aniversario de la decisión de la Corte Suprema (Roe vs. Wade) sobre el
aborto. Según el Ordo, “todas las diócesis de los Estados Unidos celebrarán un Día de oración
por la protección legal de los niños no nacidos”. Se recomienda que se ofrezcan penitencias por
todos los pecados contra la dignidad de la persona humana que se ha cometido a través de los
atroces actos de aborto. Este es también un día dedicado a la oración para restaurar la garantía
legal del derecho a la vida. Las Misas de este día pueden usar las oraciones tomadas de “Para
dar gracias a Dios por el regalo de la vida humana” o “Para la preservación de la paz y la justicia”.
Toda vida humana, desde el momento de la concepción hasta la muerte natural, es un regalo de
Dios. Honramos a Dios y le agradecemos a Él por la buena manera en que hacemos uso de este
gran don de la vida en la tierra. Recuerde que Dios nos hizo para Él, para conocerlo, para amarlo
y para servirle. Podemos descubrir a Dios en nuestras vidas y en las vidas de nuestros hermanos
y hermanas. Con la ayuda de Dios, podemos buscar a Dios en todas las situaciones y en los
demás. Por lo tanto, en el amor, estamos llamados a seguir Su voluntad para con nosotros, a
buscar Su sabiduría y esforzarnos por tener un gran respeto por toda Su creación. Respetemos

La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul

personas y gastamos $28,383. La mayoria de
la ayuda fue para renta, pero tambíén para
billes, comida, y ropa. Agradecemos mucho a
los parroquianos y amigos que dan apoyo a
nuestra obra de caridad. Sin las contribuciones
generosas de ustedes, no podríamos asistir a
los que necesitan en nuestra parroquia. San
Vicente de Paul sirve a los más necesitados en
