Copying and PastingThink about a time when you have

cut out words with your scissors and

glued them to another piece of

paper. When you copy and paste text

using a computer, it’s just like

cutting and gluing paper, but

without the sticky mess!

When you find text you want to copy and paste…

1. Move your cursor (the arrow) to the beginning of the text,

left click your mouse and hold it down.

2. Drag the cursor across the text. It will highlight the words.

3. Take your finger off of the mouse. The text is now highlighted.

After you highlight the text…

4. Move your cursor (the arrow)

anywhere on top of the

highlighted text and right click.

A menu will pop up.

5. Select “copy” from the menu.

The text has now been copied!

6. Now find a place to “paste” this text. Put your cursor in that spot and right click your mouse.

7. Select “paste” from the menu,

and Voila! You’ve pasted the text!
