Our environmental policy is guided by a commitment to controlling the impact of our industrial activities on the environment. Special emphasis is put on managing the quantities of water and energy consumed in the industrial processing of our products by recycling by-products and utilizing residuals to generate biomass for the power supply of our production units. The Optimization of our logistics linked to the transportation of the products reduce our environment impact effects.

Wood, our core

business

Plywood is made from wood layers obtained by rotary cutting Okoume,

Pine or Poplar logs. These layers, also known under the name of plies or veneers

are then bonded together at right angles of their woodgrain. The lay-up is always carried out in an odd number of plies in order to guarantee maximum stability.The wood processed conforms to EUTR, originates from sustainably managed forests and meet the requirements of either FSC® or PEFC™ procurement guidelines.

OkoumeBy locating a peeling factory in Gabon in 1999, we as the THEBAULT Group made a major change in securing strategically necessary volumes of round wood for our business. This step forward contributed to allowing us to achieve grea-ter control over the Okoume supply chain for our factories and ensuring full traceability of our tropical wood resources.

PoplarOur poplar log supply is sourced regionally and for part from forest properties of the Group. Our new peeling plant of Marigny-le-Châtel (F-10) in the Champagne region will become the main supply source in poplar veneers.

Controlled wood resources

Maritime PineThe raw materials used in our factories to produce Maritime Pine Plywood are almost entirely sourced from the surrounding “Landes de Gascogne”. This forest area is the largest in France stretching over 1 800 000 hectares. Our production sites of Sauzé-Vaussais (F-79) and more particularly Solférino (F-40) are ideally located near to and in the heart of the Aquitaine forest.

Eco-certifications: EUTR, PEFC™, FSC®

PEFC™ certifications for wood of Euro-pean origin or FSC® for those sourced in West Africa apply to the plywood products manufactured by the THEBAULT Group.Both certifications guarantee the use of wood sourced from sustainable managed forests in ecological, social and economic terms.

EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) applies within the frame of the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) Action Plan to eliminate illegal wood from the European market. The THEBAULT Group fully complies with the European Timber Regulation of the EU (EUTR) thus contributing to guarantee the traceability of the wood and its by-products.

based on a scale going from A+ (very low emissions) to C (high emissions).The classification is determined based on the mounting scenarios such as specified in the individual product data sheets.
