Rose High School Credit Checklist Future Ready Core Graduation Requirements (For students entering 9 th grade in and after) Credits for Graduation 9 th grade 6 credits minimum to go to tenth grade 10 th grade 13 credits minimum to go to eleventh grade 11 th grade 20 credits minimum to go to twelfth grade 12 th grade Must earn 87.5% of credits attempted & complete Graduation Project 28 credits to GRADUATE How Do I Earn Credit? 1 Have a passing final average in the class 70 or higher 2 Score at a proficient level on the EOC, if the class is an EOC tested class. Level III or IV on EOC 3 Have NO MORE than 7 absences in the class. If a student has more than 7 absences, he may not receive credit, even with a passing average in the class. Attendance Requirements No more than 7 absences in one class are allowed. If you sign in late for a class, you may be counted absent. If you sign out early from a class, you may be counted absent. ABSENT, NOW WHAT? If you go to the doctor, dentist or orthodontist, bring a note from their office and turn it in to Mrs. Cohen in the attendance office. If you have a death in your immediate family, the school must have documentation. The Attendance Office is where you sign in and out of school. back to Attendance It all goes togetherif you go over seven absences, you may not receive credit for a class even if you have a passing grade. (Even if your grade is an A !) To be promoted to 10 th grade, you must have 6 credits. To be promoted to 11 th grade, you must have 13 credits. To be promoted to 12 grade, you must have 20 credits. Want to get your license or permit? If you are under 18, you must be academically eligible. You must earn 3 out of 4 possible credits first semester in order to receive and/or maintain drivers license eligibility. At the end of the school year you must have earned 6 out of 8 credits. You cannot drop out of school. Eligible students who drop out of school either will NOT be granted the Driving Eligibility Certificate or will LOSE his/her license. A student who is absent a total of 8 or more periods (after all make-ups are applied) per course shall fail that course. At the discretion of the principal, a student who is passing a course and has been absent between 8 and no more than 15 periods, may be provided an opportunity to make up time missed. Each high school shall provide sufficient make-up opportunities to allow the make-up of three days (twelve class periods) per semester. Upon return to school from an absence you have to turn in an excused note to the attendance office. What is the difference in these two grades? F FF DID YOU KNOW Each Semester has three marking periods that are 6 weeks long. At the end of a semester you take a comprehensive EXAM. This exam counts as 25% of your final grade.
