Sewing Instructions - Boy Version1. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 7 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 7 ½” Fabric A block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 9 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A block. Trim the block to measure 8 ½” square to make (1) Unit 1 block (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (9) Unit 1 blocks total.
2. Place (1) 4 ⅞” Fabric H square on top of (1) 4 ⅞” Fabric B square, right sides together. Draw a line across the diagonal of the top square (Fig. 2). Sew ¼” away from each side of the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 2). Cut the (2) squares apart on the drawn diagonal line (Fig. 3) to make (2) half-square triangles. Trim blocks to measure 4 ½” square to make (2) Unit 2 squares (Fig. 4). Repeat to make (32) Unit 2 squares total.

3. Repeat Step 2 using (2) 4 ⅞” Fabric G squares and (2) 4 ⅞” Fabric H squares to make (4) Unit 3 squares (Fig. 5).

9. Sew (8) Unit 2 squares together to make (1) border strip. Repeat to make a second border strip. Sew (1) border strip to each side of the Unit 7 block to make (1) Block Two (Fig. 11).
10. Sew (2) Block Ones together. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Block Two to make Center Block (Fig. 12).

12. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric F strip and (1) 2 ½” x 12 ½” Fabric I strip together lengthwise to make (1) short FI strip. Repeat to make (4) short FI strips total.
13. Sew (1) Unit 4 and (1) Unit 5 together. Sew (1) long FI strip to the top and to the bottom of the new strip to make (1) side strip. Sew (6) Unit 6 squares and (6) Unit 5 squares together, alternating them. Sew this strip to the side strip lengthwise to make (1) Side Border. Repeat to make a second Side Border. Sew (1) Side Border to each side of the Center Block.
14. Sew (1) Unit 4 and (1) Unit 5 together. Sew (1) short FI strip to each side of the new strip to make (1) top strip. Sew (4) Unit 5 squares and (4) Unit 6 squares together, alternating them. Sew this strip and the top strip together lengthwise. Sew (1) Unit 1 block to each end of the new
strip to make the Top Border. Repeat to make the Bottom Border. Sew the borders to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block. Pay attention to the orientation of the units and strips.
15. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 64 ½” Fabric F strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 2 ½” x 52 ½” Fabric F strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block to make the quilt top.
16. Layer and quilt as desired.
17. Sew the (6) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric B strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.
18. Bind as desired.
